Booking Codes on Star Alliance Carriers
Hi....I'm planning a trip to Europe this fall and can book any star alliance carrier. Considering - depending on airline - some booking codes carry 0%, 50% 75% or 100% credit, what's the best way to figure out the booking codes on the different fares? For example, on the Air Canada web site, it will show a code on the booked itinerary and I'm wondering if that is the code for that fare? Is that the actual code to determine the credit you will receive? Thanks

Find the fare and it'll have the booking code and fare rules. You can also use a tool like KVS or Expert Flyer, but those are paid services. Codeshares are different. It's not the booking code that the marketing carrier sells it at, but the operating carrier's booking code. You could book a B fare from UA on an NH operated flight, but it might only map to a Q fare or something. At that point, you'd get whatever the Q fare is for the NH flight, not the B fare. |
