UNDER CONSTRUCTION

NOTE: The 15 A330-200 (with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines) are being retained and updated. (The nine Pratt & Whitney equipped A330-300s have been scheduled for retirement (return to lessor at lease end) by late 2018 due to poor "fit" in the AA fleet (link).) The A330-200s will continue, however, and the launch of the retrofitted A330-200 will see
  • 20 Zodiac "Envoy" type Business seats in a 1-2-1 layout (1 blocked for pilot rest)
  • 21 Premium Economy (B/E Aerospace) seats in a 2-3-2 layout
  • 50 Main Cabin Extra seats (same seats as Y, just greater seat pitch) 2-4-2 (2 blocked for customers requiring customer assistance)
  • Main Cabin / Economy seats also 2-4-2
  • Ku band satellite based Panasonic WiFi
  • Individual personal entertainment screens for every seat
  • Seat power
  • Noise reduction headsets - Bose in Business, others for Premium Economy

Premium Economy and extended Main Cabin Extra has been installed on the A330-200 fleet. Until 15 Jan 2018, PE seats were available to Elites as MCE on those aircraft with PE; PE are available for sale on that date.

That's where you are going to be disappointed. F in AA (LAX or DFW, I don't know ORD) to HI is tolerable but not great. If you are on US all the way (through PHX), the old 757s -- I just got off one -- are cruddy. Envoy trans-Atlantic is quite good on its own terms, fantastic in comparison to the PHX-HI flights. Hope you are doing DFW-HNL/OGG.

PHX-HI should be converted to LAA 757s by this time so the LUS HI 757s can be retired.

I just bought a ticket on the 333.
Very looking forward to trying the US airways flagship bird for the first time! (Although it is now painted with AA livery)

Thank you-

Btw, just out of curiosity, does anyone know when US Airways first introduced the current Envoy business class seats?

Fall 2010, I believe. They rolled out on the A330-200's.

Surprised to see upon checking my reservation today that my PHL-SJU flight has been changed from an A321 to the A332. This is great news for me as I'm booked in business class.
Since I'm travelling with my partner, I have booked the middle seats with the hope that I'll be able to talk to him if I lean forward.

I didn't realize that PHL-SJU warranted such a large bird.

Flight leaves at 9:40am, so I assume we'll get a nice hot breakfast.

Keep hoping. I mean, just because nobody else has been able to ....

US Airways A330 200 (332) seat advice?

Will be flying DUB TO MCO via Charlotte. Currently have paid for Choice Seats 6E & 6F which are bulkhead on front row of economy. Need extra leg room for 6'5 tall husband. Have paid for business class on inbound journey but looking at options for outbound. Have no airmiles with US Airways so out quite a lot of expense already for upgrade on inbound

Should I stick with 6E and 6F as cabin crew use whole of Row 23 economy exit seats or would it be worth trying for business class upgrade 24 hours prior to flight?

How much extra inches of leg room would 6E & 6F have?

Check out 7GH. Most room in economy.

7G or H was my first choice but unavailable.

Does anyone have feedback on the centre bulk head seats on Row 6?

Flying on the A330-200 from DUB to PHL in business

For a couple are we better in 1A & 1C or 1C & 1F - in other words middle two or aisle?

Can you hold hands across the aisle if need be? Can you even do it on the middle seats?

Thanks!

You will probably want 1A/1C if you want to talk. 1C/1F have your feet together and your head apart.

Thanks. Daytime flight so that probably makes sense.

My wife is nervous at times flying, so need to be close and give support where required.

I'm sure I have said this elsewhere upstream, but the big problem on the A330-200 is that the portside toilet in front of 6A, 6B is for Y (economy) passengers; but the starboard side toilet in front of 7G, 7H is for F passengers. So some folks -- young males in particular -- come up the starboard row, discover they can't use the toilet there, and use the bulkhead in front of 6C, 6D, 6E, 6F as a passageway to the portside toilet. And then back again.

I'd take the first C or F seat (B and G seats can have boxes under them) I could find.
