Canceling an award and redeposit miles - how much?

So I have an award R/T later this week that I might have to cancel due to some visa issues. I know the change fee is $150 and the redeposit fee is $150, but my question is if I should expect to pay both when I want to cancel and have my miles redeposited?

This is probably a really silly question, but my brain couldn't make it out from the membership guide so I figured asking FT was the next best thing...

It should be $150 to cancel and redeposit. You may want to wait and see if there are schedule changes and then argue that you are canceling due to the schedule changes, and maybe they will waive the fee.

You only pay for the redeposit fee. The change fee is charged when you keep the same PNR.

Thanks a lot for the quick answers.

I plan on waiting to place the call to US until about 30min before the departure, just in case things work out in the end, but it is not looking promising atm..

Just my opinion but waiting until 30 minutes before the flight to cancel is cutting it way to close. Just think of what could happen if PHL and CLT have weather delays, you could easily have 20+ minute delays on the phone. JMO...
