First cheaper than coach?

Just checking my agenda tomorrow and I came across this:
Fl. #578 SAN-PHX Coach: $435/$804 First: $200/$300

Just seems quite odd, would anyone really book coach for more $?

I haven't seen it quite that bad, but I have seen Y price out higher than F before.

Whether or not people spend more for Y depends on where they look. If they go to US's site and see those prices, yeah, it's a no brainer. However, a lot of people go to portal sites like Orbitz, Travelocity, etc, and they just see Y prices unless they specifically look for F.

Seeing is believing, but, boy, is that an extreme one. Thanks for passing it along.

As I mentioned (and someone confirmed) on another thread, this (although not to such an extreme) is one of the unanticipated consequences of too much bean-counting moral hygiene. Which is to say that there are many of us who, absent a grueling justification process, cannot get reimbursed for an F purchase, but can get reimbursed for even a crazy-high Y fare.

All this said, this one is either a mistake or evidence that US is moving toward getting any $$ possible from F before opening seats up to elites.
