I also don't think the marketing folks did a good job because what they did is pissed off the corporate travelers. A lot of people fly on business for their companies and have no choice where to buy their tickets. I just hope United can match it with something better now.

Use a valid MasterCard card to get double miles or use a valid US Airways Dividend Miles MasterCard card to get double Preferred-qualifying miles on flight activity.
So does this mean that if you use your US Air DM MC to book a R/T flight that is 5k miles you would be awarded the following:
5k Regular dividend miles
5k PQM
5k PQM(as the bonus)
Can you also get another 5K of regular dividend miles since your US AIR MC is a mastercard??

It would definitely be silly if the PQMs weren't redeemable, like the terms seems to allude to: "You’ll get either double Preferred-qualifying miles OR double miles depending on your card type"

So I read through the thread and didn't see an answer to this question: If I bought, say, trial Platinum Preferred status for $600, by using this promotion could I keep that status through Feb 2014 by flying 11,250 miles (half the normal 22,500) in the next 90 days? In other words, do the double PQM count towards a Trial Preferred challenge?

Oh, I like this. Just got informed I have four business trips over the next month. Mostly shorthaul, but some medium haul (DCA-MSP). Now...as a FF hog, do I fly DCA-CHS or DCA-CLT-CHS

If I buy tickets for my kids with my Mastercard when we travel together, do I get the PQMs for their tickets or do they? (or do none of us?)

I doubt it. AFAIK, premium fares (those that give 150% PQMs with Class of Service bonus) don't help in a Trial Challenge, and neither would this DPQM promo if they hold true to the challenge of flying xxx BIS miles on US/USX within 90 days.

Judging from the reply FlywithUS got, I believe as long as your wife registers for the promotion, and you use your USAirways Mastercard, she would get DPQM's.
With regards to using someone else's MasterCard and still getting double EQMs, the desk responded:
I guess that's a go ahead for me to cancel the res I booked yesterday night on my AmEx and have it reticketed with a US Airways MasterCard card that isn't associated with my account.
Makes sense seeing as EQMs are associated with BIS miles and not dollar amounts, so I'm assuming all they need to know is that your form of payment was a US Airways MasterCard card and everyone on the PNR gets treated to Double EQMs.
Dear Mr. FlywithUS,
Thank you for contacting US Airways.
Your Dividend Miles account does reflect your registration for this
promotion. Tickets purchased for you using anyone's US Airways
Mastercard would qualify you for the Double Preferred Qualifying miles.
Thank you for the opportunity to further explain our Dividend Miles
program. We look forward to serving you on future US Airways flights.

As I figured. Didn't hurt to ask though.
Dear CrizzleColts,
Thank you for contacting US Airways.
Unfortunately, this offer is for flights booked on our US Airways
website only.
If you are booking on another website, you would only received the
actual miles of the trip.
Please accept our sincere apology that we are not able to offer what you
are asking.
Sincerely,
Thank you for contacting US Airways.

Well, I got my answer, and it's the opposite of what they told you:
Dear Swag,
Thank you for contacting US Airways.
The double miles will only apply to the primary cardholder on the
account.
Since you are the primary cardholder, it is only available to you when
you book your flights.
Please accept our sincere apology for any misunderstanding.

Hello, I'm looking for a clarification on the double miles promo
(PromoCode=MCDM). To earn the double Preferred-qualifying miles, does
the Dividend Miles Mastercard has to be tied to the account of the
traveler? If I use my Dividend Miles Mastercard (tied to my own account)
to buy my girlfriend's ticket, will she still get the double
Preferred-qualifying miles? Thanks!
Where's the head-banging-against-the-wall smiley?

But wait, there's more
30 minutes after that last email, I get another one, with another reversal:
Dear Swag,
Thank you for your email.
Of your previous question, I have been updated that the person traveling
would receive double Preferred Miles.
If a person purchases a US Airways ticket for someone else using his/her
US Airways MasterCard and that person meets all the promotion details
including registration, booking and travel dates, then the companion
will receive double PQM?s.
Please accept our sincere apology for the misadvisement.
Sincerely,
