It would be a pretty dumb move if they abandon Grand Slam given the amount of buzz it creates and new customers it brings in. Given that AA and UA offer online partner booking and one way awards, US would be losing a lot of customers without Grand Slam.

It can't hurt to tweet/post how excited we are for the GS. I've done it once or twice and will do it again today.

while it is not 100% guaranteed... there is more things and people saying no, than there is proof that there will be a GS this year. The fact that they did it last year is not an indication that they will again this year... especially with the possible merger with AA, being on a different alliance.

I wouldn't go crazy trying to go out of my way to prep for GS.

The person I spoke with, while not a US employee, is employed by a company who is an integral partner for US and the GS promo. When I inquired about being a GS "hit", was told by that person that it was not in the works, at least not until 2013.

I really do wish there was a GS 2012... I think it would be great for US/AA, especially if they publicize the crap out of it. I for one started flying US more frequently ever since GS 2011.

Agreed. All we have is a statement from one person who spoke with someone not at US.

would be really sad if there is no GS 12. But it's live, isn't it? We will all move on.

If they aren't gonna do GS, I would hope for a nice DEQM promo instead.

This constant pursuit of AA will clearly be the culprit if GS doesn't happen.

Maybe the contradictory comments are deliberate and part of a plan to get the blogoshere talking about GS12!

What does flying have to do with Grand Slam? Grand Slam is about getting your fiberglass bigfoot a wine tasting guide and a night at the local Quality Inn.
