Existing customer, opened a new trading account with new account number. I have not funded this new account. I will wait for a week before deciding what to do.

I had the SB 2,500 registration miles post yesterday. I have three other hits that posted, all of which should be guaranteed hits:

- Points.com - DM to AirAsia to DM 10>4>1 transfer
- Magazines for Miles
- Marriott points transfer

So if I get the first level bonus for four hits, we'll know if SB registration without funding or trading works as a hit. Of course, that's assuming none of my other hits post today and skew the test.

I already have an individual account with SB from years ago when they offered $50 and some other incentive to open an account. I purchased a couple of cheap shares and a fraction of another share. The 2 shares were free of commission because of some promotion and the fraction of a share was on the Tuesday purchase (I think there was a small commission). Now the account is worth over $65...I'll soon be ready to retire on that.

Opening another IRA account now. I think I will be eligible for a deductible IRA this year because I am on a per diem so a lot of my income is tax free. I'll just send them $100 and hang onto it until after the 14th of May 2012. I hope this will generate a hit??

Might need to fund account to get bonus miles

Opened a "regular" account for my wife and myself on 09-21-2011.

Since no points posted, I funded both on 09-26-2011.

Today (09-28-2011) the following posted for both accounts:

9/26/2011 09/27/11 SHAREBUILDER REGISTRATION MILES 2,500

So, at least in our case, it seems that a first time Sharebuilder "regular" account might need to be funded in order to get the 2500 miles bonus.

You opened the accounts last Wednesday and it appears that Sharebuilder posts bonus miles every Tuesday (ie missing the previous round of weekly mile posting). So I think you would have been given the miles regardless of whether or not you funded them based on what many here have reported (including myself).

Thanks for clearifying that (for myself and others) .... guess I should have waited a few more days but I got impatient!

so my tier bonus just posted. can anyone confirm if the 2,500 miles from sharebuilder without trading counted? I can't tell from mine because I also have audience trivia question miles that might or might not count.

I don't think we have definitive proof, although the fact that Sharebuilder did count last year and the year before is a pretty strong indicator.

AR trivia does count. 4 out of 4 on my daughter's account.

9/22/2011 09/22/11 EXCHANGE MILES -10
9/25/2011 09/26/11 EXCHANGE MILES 1
9/27/2011 09/28/11 E-REWARDS MILEAGE TRANSFER 500
9/29/2011 09/29/11 ONLINE REDEMPTION -500
9/29/2011 09/29/11 GRAND SLAM 2011 MULTI PARTNER BONUS - 4 3,000

Here's my question about SB: how could US tell the difference between a) 2500 miles from merely setting up an SB account and b) 2500 miles from someone settign up and funding/trading in an SB account? Right now the activity line is identical; given that, I have a hard time accepting the proposition that some SB 2500-mile credits won't count.

As of right now, it doesn't look like they worked for me, either. Per my earlier post, I had three guaranteed hits (points.com 10DM>4 AirAsia>1DM transfer, magazines for miles and Marriott points transfer) with SB 2,500 being my fourth hit. Unless I'm in a later sweep, I have not yet received the first tier bonus.

It may be that the miles posted to my account too late to be included in the sweep, but who knows. They posted to my account on 9/27, so it may have been too late to be included in the sweep.

But as I'm sitting here at a gate at PIT, it's not looking good.

This is an excellent point.

@Beltway: THANK YOU for all you're doing in the forum. I greatly appreciate your hard work!
