I opened a regular SB account last year and earlier this week, I opened an IRA account (without funding it) by choosing the option to open another account. I have gotten an email asking me to fund it. I'll wait a few more days to see if I get the hit.

It was a hit the last two years. See discussion noted below.

I may be wrong, but for some reason I thought that IRA accounts do not count (only non-retirement ones)

By the way what type of account did you open to get miles posted the following day? I opened my "personal investment" account three days ago and still waiting for miles to post.

Cheers!
Sorry - I mis-typed. I was going by the activity date posted in my dividend miles account. But looking at my e-mails, I actually opened it on 9/17, with the miles posting on 9/20. My account type is just listed as "Individual".

IIRC I got TWO 2500 SB to DM bonii last year on tax-deferred acounts.
Which raises an interesting Q,
as I figured it was illegal to offer such... (?)

...At least I have NEVER seen bonii for such accounts before..
UNTIL I started to see them this year,
i.e. $500 at TD, then $600 at Schwab, for transfer-ins.

Note that the partner website does not recognize your US DM number if you use lower case, but instead requires ALL CAPS.

Question about this : my DM number is only numbers , are there different formats ???

Yes, for pax whose DM numbers were issued at different points in US's history. Mine -- issued circa 1997 -- is in the form 111A1A1, for instance.

The legacy US Airways IDs are the mixed letters/numbers. The all-numeric ones are legacy America West; I believe this is the format for new ones too.

I opened a regular individual account on 9/21 but did not fund it or make any trades. Today I got:

9/26/2011 09/27/11 SHAREBUILDER REGISTRATION MILES 2,500

Oh man -- I actually wasted $15 on funding and buying a share of AA. But miles posted today as well.

Received my 2500 miles today, too.

This is for an IRA account (already have an indiv) with no funding nor trades.

Activity date- 9/26/11
Posting date -9/27/11

Actually the date I opened it was last week

Curious about terms and condition. This is a subscription and it states if you close your account before May 14, 2012, you will lose the Hit.

Does anyone think that even if we have 2500 miles posted for registration , that we may lose it if we don't fund the account and purchase one trade before May 14, 2012?

I also funded my account $100 (opened on Sunday) and the miles already posted today with no trade.

I think I may do a single trade for $15 total or so and then redeposit the rest of my money. Even if it were just 2500 miles I'd still do that, and the fact that it's a hit is a great deal.

Add in the fact that the basic account has no monthly fees and this is a great and easy hit.
