I opened a regular SB account last year and earlier this week, I opened an IRA account (without funding it) by choosing the option to open another account. I have gotten an email asking me to fund it. I'll wait a few more days to see if I get the hit.

I may be wrong, but for some reason I thought that IRA accounts do not count (only non-retirement ones)

When did you open the account by the way? From many posts I have read, they post 2.5K Bonus miles regardless of whether or not you trade. But it seems they post them once a week Monday or Tuesday. I am waiting till next Tuesday to see if I need to fund my account and trade.
By the way what type of account did you open to get miles posted the following day? I opened my "personal investment" account three days ago and still waiting for miles to post.
Cheers!

Which raises an interesting Q,
as I figured it was illegal to offer such... (?)
...At least I have NEVER seen bonii for such accounts before..
UNTIL I started to see them this year,
i.e. $500 at TD, then $600 at Schwab, for transfer-ins.

Yes, for pax whose DM numbers were issued at different points in US's history. Mine -- issued circa 1997 -- is in the form 111A1A1, for instance.

Curious about terms and condition. This is a subscription and it states if you close your account before May 14, 2012, you will lose the Hit.
Does anyone think that even if we have 2500 miles posted for registration , that we may lose it if we don't fund the account and purchase one trade before May 14, 2012?

I also funded my account $100 (opened on Sunday) and the miles already posted today with no trade.
I think I may do a single trade for $15 total or so and then redeposit the rest of my money. Even if it were just 2500 miles I'd still do that, and the fact that it's a hit is a great deal.
Add in the fact that the basic account has no monthly fees and this is a great and easy hit.
