Wife and I are taking an anniversary trip to Oregon. Looking at going YXU-PDX, connecting through ORD(not ideal, but the tradeoffs among other options lead us there.) Anyway, I've searched through here, and also on United's website, and can't make out what the story is for carry-on baggage for F ticket holders. Typically I carry our laptop bag, and my wife has her purse(slightly smaller than average) and a bag that fits the carry on dimensions. Is that going to be an issue?
United's site is horrible for gathering that information.

no difference between F and Y for carry ons. One thing that will fit in overhead and another "personal" item.

1. UA's website is actually very good for this purpose. It took me less than 30 seconds to find the information you allege is missing. A link is below this post. It can be found by pulling down the "Travel Information" menu and clicking on "Baggage Information".
2. You will each be allowed a carry-on + a personal item (such as purse or a laptop). The maximum total dimensions of the carry-ons are specified.
The advantage of your F ticket is that it will allow you to check up to 3 pieces of luggage each at no extra charge, even if you have no "status". Carry-on baggage policy is essentially the same for F and Y. Although passengers seated in F may indeed "carry on" (verb form) more when something is not to their liking.

While there is no difference in the allowance for carry on, there is a difference. You will board first and be seated in a section with a great ratio of storage space to seat. Unlike late boarder in economy, you are (almost) guaranteed to find adequate bin space.

I was on that page. Ok, two lines 2/3s of the way down the page. While the info is there, I'd hardly call it very good for that info. Checked baggage info jumps right out at you, but this is almost buried. But thank you for the post. You have allayed my concerns.
Agreed - not sure how the OP could claim this (especially as he still claims to be a NWA Elite).
I'm not on here enough to worry about the little piece under my screen name, but how does NWA WP say Elite? I would have put the status level if I was one. But I never was more than just a lowly member with no status.

I get my Eastern Airlines status renewed every year, but can't get them to credit miles.

Rules are rules (as everyone here will reinforce again and again) BUT, I always fly with a 22" roller and my briefcase (attache) and never have anything under my feet in F. both go up top as there is plenty more space considering the fewer amount of passengers in F for the amount of bin space available. I have even traveled with 2 rollers on occasion and not been given any grief over it in F.

Ah, you are the reason why I now have to carry a duffel instead of my 17 inch roller. The sense of entitlement among other F pax never ceases amaze.
There is not enough room on most domestic planes for each F pax to put both carry ons in the overhead.
For those who think otherwise, thanks a lot, my back is killing me.

Why would your back hurt? Are you helping other "entitled" F pax take their carry-ons down?
FWIW, I've never had an issue on F with carry-ons - but I almost always check luggage. I hate schlepping them around airports.

Carrying a duffel instead of rolling a suitcase is hard on the back.
I too hate schlepping bags, but I hate waiting for them in baggage claim even more and having UA lose them the most.
Logic dictates a smaller bag in the overhead causes less stress when lifting/lowering as it is lighter. I've also never ever carried a duffel across the shoulder. There are also roller duffel bags.
