Check now- Your Elite level for 2013 may be live!
[As of sometime between 5pm & 8pm PST, United posted the 2 RPUs into my account that indicated I'm a Plat for 2013. And apparently quite a few others. ]
With the exception of those who have "bumped up" a level (or attained status for the firs time), is there any indication, of any sort, that one has achieved a given status level for 2013?
My final miles from 2012 have posted (flights on 12/30), but there's nothing I can find that totals up my 2012 miles.
In my case, UA.com indicates my status as Platinum, just like it has for the past year. I can't find anything that indicates the expiration date for my status.
Also, no RPUs deposited yet. Wouldn't a Plat or 1K see RPUs and/or GPUs deposited at the time UA grants the next-year's status?
No, I haven't called, and I have no reason to suspect that I didn't make the cut. It just seems strange that the last of the miles are posted, but nothing tells me anything more than the fact that I'm starting over from zero again.
Thanks-

your 'old' (ie, 2012) status would not expire until 1/31/2013 per the MP program rules. so even if you missed out you would not see this change on .bomb until that time. your best bet to know your actual PQM is to sort back thru your account records and add up the PQM for each monthly statement. of course, the statement for 12/02-12/31 has not yet posted, so this would rely on you having a record of what you flew in Dec12 and in what fare classes. from what i have heard those requalifying for the same status are not offically 'inducted' until mid January unless they had qualified for the same status level or higher by the mid-part of December.

That doesn't seem odd to anyone? How is it not in the best interest of United to let you know sooner than later, especially if they might offer a buy-up program?
I don't recall from years past how things worked; when I was a lowly 2P, my attitude was a variant of "as if." When I first attained 1P status, it appeared on-line when it happened (June that year?), and later 1K (Dec 13th if I recall correctly). Next year it dropped back to 1P, and I really wasn't all that into knowing exactly when United wanted to tell me. Better to delay. Then back up to Platinum, which was reflected in my status in November of last year.
So in the past, either I didn't care, didn't want to look, or when it was good news, it popped up quickly on its own.

I got my 2 new RPUs (on 1/1/13 as well!) so I know I made Plat for 2013.

c'mon Mike, would you really expect UA to do something elite/customer friendly like that???
plus, it could be argued it is in UAs best interest to wait as long as possible then say 'buy up within the next 7 days or lose out! heres the sky high price!' at that point as a business you have a captive audience. otherwise, folks can buy a ton of PQMs right now and/or take a long MR and get the status they were missing anyways (and/or not have to risk taking said MR without the status they so cherish).

You're not alone, I was also curious why the RPUs/GPUs haven't been deposited yet (when the RPUs were immediately deposited when I hit Plat). I'm wanting to gift a couple asap.
I agree about the mileage too. I went over 100K on 12/29, only to have them post on the 31st...and then disappear the next day. But I did see them in my account for that brief moment.

You should have checked in the last day or two of the year, and that would have been your totals before they reset it to zero.
If United offers a buy up program, the email will show the miles you have achieved and how many you need.
Every year we have threads from people saying they should have a way to see last years miles, it's not going to happen, so you need to keep records yourself.

I also requalified for 1K by flying on 12/30; the miles have posted but there's no indication that I am 1K in 2013. In the past I would not have worried but it's hard to trust the new UA.
