TG921 FRA-BKK 80,000 miles?

Hi Everyone
I am checking TG921 A380 on united.com. It shows 80000 miles per person. I thought was 70000 miles to Asia according to the chart. I also called UA couple times and they can't not combine IAD-FRA X class with First Class(O). any ideas? Thank you in advanced.

Europe to South Asia is 80K in F. From North America to South Asia is 70K. Which are they pricing??

As for combining X and O on a single award, it definitely can be done. Just make sure the agent understands that you want to redeem the first class award with a voluntary downgrade to coach on the one segment. And if it is on UA metal you can waitlist for the premium cabin.

I gave them segment by segment. IAD-FRA X then FRA-BKK O. They told me the system can't be price the whole trip.I even have them check with rate desk.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I just did flight tg 920 in F on the A380 and it was great.

I started on one award and did Middle East to South Asia for 65k one way with a 12 hour layover in Fra. LH from bah-fra then TG fra-bkk.

I also then got creative and originally had a one way award bkk-fra-ord using TG in F on the A380 then LH in F on the 747 which was 70k miles. However what I did was make it a round trip from South Asia to Southern South America with a stopover in ORD. So for 160k total (should be 180k per united.com) I got the following all in 3 class F:

bkk-fra on TG A380
fra-ord on LH 747
ord-gru-gig-gru-ord on UA 777
ord-nrt-bkk on UA 777

I'm going to tweak the award to see if I can dump the UA segments to get back to Bkk and either route via Europe again using LH/TG or some asian carriers SQ/NH etc. via the pacific.

Sorry but i had to tell someone.

Now your situation sucks! Europe to South Asia is 15k more and you don't get to do any transit anywhere. However what you could do is:

Go LH fra-dxb on the A340 in F then get on either: the TG two class a330 dxb-bkk (i know it isn't 3 class) or go SQ with good availability via SIN to bkk on their a330. You can get some time in DXB and possibly SIN if wanted. Not the best option but it is another option, although you would be paying more miles for only the LH being in 3 class f whereas I know TG is 2 class, not sure about the SQ.

I'd recommend trying again. It is most definitely possible, and I've done it post-3/3 in the SHARES era without issue.

With all due respect this website is full of people doing what you did. Outside of FT you might feel unique, but I'm sure you realize there are hundreds of us that put together such complicated reward Itineraries all the time, and do it well.

The OP stated they are starting at IAD.

I just booked one a few weeks ago which included NRT-FRA-ORD-BOS. Agent said it wouldn't work but tried anyways. When it failed i was transferred to web support who was able to get it to work. Mixed class seems to cause problems.

Did they manually price it for you?

The reservation agent tried to get it to work but told me it failed as I could not mix cabins (BS considering every simple award search shows mixed cabin). She said she had to transfer me to to web support (I didn't ask). I had to start from scratch feeding the segments to the off shore agent but it priced out at 70K for him. My ticket was one way six segment trip from SIN-BOS with a mix of O, I & X class

Shouldn't this itinerary be RTW, especially crssing ATL and PAC?

I've had several different situations.

When booking this winter's vacation, I initially booked an O award for my wife, with one segment only available in X at the time of booking. We then waitlisted for O for that segment. (We eventually waitlisted for I for all segments, and when the last one cleared, UA repriced the itin, refunded the mileage difference, and charged a slight bit more in taxes as they had changed between the original booking and then.)

For another one-way award, I booked I for 2 segments and X for one, and waitlisted that one for I. These were all UA metal, which helps, but we did the same on a mixed UA/LH/SN itin as well without issue (obviously we waitlisted only the UA metal segments, as you can't waitlist partner flights--you just have to keep checking).

Where does it change from 70k to 80k?

I am on the last last leg of HKG-ZRH-FRA-BOS-PHL-SAN o/w F award it was only 70,000miles. At what point south does it turn to 80,000?

asia to europe (one way) is 80K in F (example: HKG-FRA)

asia to USA (one way, via europe) is 70K in F (example: HKG-FRA-ORD; or your ininerary)

makes no sense, but that is the way it is

From Asia you can go via the pacific or atlantic to the USA/South America. When I tried the first couple times it actually wouldn't allow me to return from SA via the Atlantic for some reason and had to go via the Pacific. So i'm in the itinerary I'm in for now. Still all for 160, although I will try and switch out the UA flights for other carriers.
