Received The Wrong Membership Package

I thought I was done but UA was good for one last "surprise" on the last day of 2012 - they sent out a Platinum Membership package instead of the 1K.

I was initially quite worried but when I called I learned that there was a problem at UA and that I was not the only one who received the wrong material. A new package is apparently already on the way.

I hope my travel experience in 2013 with UA will be better.

Happened to me last year I received a Gold, Platinum, and 1K package right after I re-qualified for 1K ... I thought it was due to the merger but maybe not.

Don't worry, you'll get the 1K package soon. There's quite a delay between qualification and materials being received. They probably just sent this out after you passed the 75k mark and haven't got around to sending the new package after you passed 100k.

If UA said there was a problem then probably not the case but just to rule it out, OP when did you cross 100,000 PQM mark?

They said they sent a batch of newly status-ed accounts to the vendor last Friday. We should be getting new packet in mid/late January.

I crossed Plat end of November, received those credentials Sat 29 Dec in mail. Crossed 1K on 21 Dec; assume will get those sometime in January.

So, it's just a lag in their snail mail; not necessarily receiving the "wrong" package.

Thanks for all the insights - makes sense now. Seems to be by design based on milage level early December.

Last year, got someone else's MM package (the nice box, 10 drink certs and leather luggage tags). Called and got a whole new one about 2 weeks later with 10 more drink certs and another leather luggage tag.

My info was on the outside FedEx label, but everything inside belonged to another guy (same first name--but his Asian last name didn't match my Irish ancestry).
