787 DEN-NRT Delayed Implementation?
A friend and I purchased B fare tickets DEN-NRT on 4/10 and had confirmed upgrades on the 787. Everything was fine up until today...the reservation for 4/10 still says flight UA139 and confirmed in BusinessFirst (R), but there is no equipment listed and when I click on the seat change button it says "Reacommodation Pending, Try again later!" When I view it on the phone app it says DEN-NRT UA 139, with 2 stops.
Our return flight on 4/14 still shows the 787 for the equipment but I get the same message when I try and change seats. The seat assignments have disappeared for the entire round trip on both our itineraries.
Anyone else having this issue? If they're changing the equipment I'm pretty annoyed.

Might just be a schedule change; they rolled one through a week ago for the 31 March flight, I believe, changing it about 30 minutes time-wise.
I'd wait until the weekend schedule changes fully propagate through the systems before worrying too much.
There was already a ~30 minute schedule change when I looked at it yesterday. Schedule changes do not ordinarily cause seat assignments and equipment types to disappear like this. I am concerned. Also, the flight availability buckets on EF now only show J9 Y9 B9 and everything else zero...but, they do still show the 787 for both flights. I will wait before calling to see what ultimately happens.
On second thought.. I just saw another thread where a Q200 is scheduled on a TATL flight....so perhaps I should not be so concerned yet.

Very Odd. I checked my June res (made yesterday) as soon as I read this post and same thing; schedule change, although no time changes -- just no longer lists equipment. I clicked accept sched change and when it refreshed it showed a 787 again. But I notice my receipt does not list equipment either -- the space is blank.

You need to "refresh" the e-receipt by adding (or re-adding) your e-mail address to to the reservation
From the main list of your reservations page-
Click "Add E-mail Address and Request Receipt"
Make sure your e-mail address is listed
Click "Submit"
Go back to the reservation and view the e-receipt where it should now be updated (n.b. you may have to wait a minute for it to take or refresh the page a few times for it to show)
Dump or keep the new e-mail from United

Over-entitled 1k wondering how COdbaUA likes Flyertalk being its beta tester?
Did anyone really expect the 787 to be ready to fly DEN-NRT on time? Sounds to me like UA already knows there is going to be an equip problem, just not sure how they plan to fix it yet (i would not be surprised to see a sCO 777 w a stop for a while on the DEN-NRT route)

Seeing as how they offered the service back in May and were taking delivery of 787s this fall, one would expect 6 months to be enough time to get them ready. (That said, I made my booking fully anticipating them NOT being ready, and haven't made my WAS-DEN positioning flight booking yet for exactly that reason.)

I certainly don't. I will be happy if the route eventually starts. The danger with the kinks in the 787 is that once finally worked out, UA will find other business priorities or the political climate will change (e.g. IAH/AKL was sunk due to WN getting more flights at HOU).

I still think it is a bit early to jump to conclusions on this route. There is plenty of time for things to fall into place and still plenty of time for other unexpected issues to arise.
When I booked it it said something along the lines of "pending approval". I don't even know if that approval is granted yet.
As long as I get to keep BF on any changes I am not so bothered....will catch the 787 on another route.
I for one hope they spend time to work out any kinks and not rush an aircraft into long haul service if it isn't ready.

False alarm folks.. sorry for the confusion. sbm12 was absolutely right..it was just an odd display due to there being a minor schedule change. The reservations for both my friend and me returned to normal this morning including the seat assignments..and it's a 787 round trip. Flight numbers remain UA 139/138. Chalk this one up to me not being familiar with viewing schedule changes post merger while they are in progress... I have learned something new.
Nothing to see here.. perhaps the mods should just lock this up or merge it into a schedule change thread.
