Testing some new seating at O'Hare gates (Terminal 2)
Hi Everyone,
Starting this past weekend, we began testing three new seating layouts at several of our gates in Terminal 2 at Chicago O’Hare. We’re testing these different designs as part of efforts to improve the experience in the gate area. Each layout with have a more open arrangement, as well as more power outlets and table workspaces. The new layouts are located at the following gates:
Layout 1: F11 A/B
Layout 2: F12 A/B
Layout 3: F12 D and F14
We’re interested in your feedback on each design. If you have a chance to stop by, please feel free to post your thoughts here.

Yes please! Lack of power outlets at ORD is a frustrating nuisance, and it's appalling how many people have to sit on the ground (and obstruct already-crowded gates) to access them.

Will there be a dedicated 1K-only seating area? :P

I look forward to checking it out. Now that my MRtastic fare had a forced schedule/routing change i will be in ORD in 2 weeks. I just hope my flight gets in early enough to check it out during my 1hr 15min connect.

Shannon,
Forgive me for not knowing which gate is which, but I flew out of the gate near the end of F, just before the escalators heading down (on the same side of the concourse as the escalators)...
I knew something was different, it had a very 'temporary' feel to it at the time I was there, but that's probably because, in retrospect, it was indeed different. I hadn't been that far down in F in a while, and thought it might have been a makeshift gate during construction. Had I known this was a new layout/test, I'd have paid closer attention...But I do recall it being more open, and did notice the 4 seats connected with a table of sorts...While those seats were taken (I strolled down from the UC about 4 mins before boarding), I would have liked to have sat there, given the opportunity. The gate did appear to be more 'open', the counter was accessible and everything seemed to flow a bit better.
Thumbs up for me, except a 'Premier Access' sign would have been nice--It did instantly become a CF when the GA started his announcements--no one was gate licing, but I did have to swim upstream when the GA called zone 1.

Wondering?, re-arranged the chairs and put in some extension cord power drops with power strips?
I am forced to fly through these gates weekly as part of the CLE to ORD "herding".
Normally I trudge from B22.
I am looking forward to observing the work.
After, would like to have a 1 on 1 with you and provide value input.
I am in that area each Monday 7 am time-frame.
Charles and Ray Eames designed their tandem sling seating for Chicago's O'Hare International Airport in 1962 to address the need for comfortable, attractive, and sturdy public seating. They based the design on the sling system developed for their aluminum group chairs.
A timeless design, since it is used today at Apple Stores.

I hate those seats. Way too low-backed, and you can't lie down on them for long layovers. ORD easily ranks as one of my least favorite airports to connect in.

I'll be at ORD tomorrow. It's an early morning flight to CLE (6am), so I hope to be able to get some nice pics with minimal people around. I'll post them tomorrow, and have some feedback for Shannon.
