UA Lacking in Holiday Greeting

So I realize this is small potatoes so to speak, but remember when MP members used to get really great holiday e-cards that really provided a personal touch like these:

Well not only does this personal touch no longer seem to be a priority, but DL has just posted a very entertaining holiday greeting while UA persists with nothing. Here's the DL video:

I'm torn. Would I prefer that the MileagePlus team spend its resources during the 2012 holiday season trying to figure out a way to make their 2013 program changes more palatable for customers? Or would I prefer that they give up and send an e-card?

There are many things that one might have a legit gripe with these days but seriously?

This definitely belongs in the ever so large thread of complaint minutia.

Rec'd a Martin Hand-signed card yesterday...pretty nice card as corporate Xmas cards go. Was a little surprised, admittedly.

Please submit your request for your personally autographed card to:

Mr. Santa Claus
c/o I.M. Feeling Neglected
21548 Candy Cane Lane
North Pole

He might be busy for the next couple weeks but will be sure to respond after the 27th or so.

This is not a big issue, but its another example of United failing miserably on the little things.

By way of comparison - while not a holiday card per se, AA sent out a nice end of year closing thoughts note from Tom Horton. One quote at the end was very telling:

While we always value your business, it is at times like these that we are especially grateful for your loyalty.

Don't see $misek talking much about loyalty these days.

Perhaps he has segmented customers into those they want to keep and those they want to fire, and you're in the former category.

Given my spend, I definitely don't think they want to fire me - but I'm probably on the bubble for GS renewal this year. New baby meant no travel in Q4, though no shortage of FF intl C in Q1-3. We'll see.

Either way, the card was a nice touch and gave me some hope that I might yet get renewed for 2013.

Yes.

I like the DL card.

DL sees the holiday as an opportunity to do something like this. And all while creating a positive impression, their customers are spending 60 seconds watching a video plastered with DL logos all over the place -- from the uniforms to the baggage claim area, to the gate area, to the plane, to the baggage trucks, and ultimately the DL logo in lights at the end. Win-win.

Maybe we should do our own disgruntled UA FFers video card showing images of delayed flight boards, SHARES, long upgrade lists, long CS lines, and Jeff Smisek himself, all to the tune of You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.

They day I get upset that a corporation doesn't send me a Christmas card is the day I time re-examine my priorities.

Those FTers who say this is telling of United would be the first to post here noting "Jeff wasted all this on a silly greeting and he should use it for meals in F" - we already saw proof of this in the past - this does belong in the "least substant" thread
