Creepy? - Being announced by name to board as UA GS.
It's happened twice now (SNA and IAH) in the last few months - while hanging about waiting for pre-board announcement on a UA flight SNA-SFO, the GA calls "Mr X, Mr Y Ms Z, Mrs Q.... please approach the podium (Pause) to board as Global Service members..." followed by the Zillion Eyeball Stare from other pax and a "Walk of Shame" feeling.
After that happened the first time, I mentioned to the Purser what had happened - she was puzzled. UA GS Dir @ SFO likewise puzzled - "not policy, and yes it's creepy". She took note of it - I didn't hear anything of it after.
It happened again in IAD a couple of weeks ago. I chose not to come up with the other 4 people called. Pretty sure it wasn't the same GA (SNA vs IAH?) - I did ask the GA as I did board if this was new policy and was told it was... pointed out the creepiness factor - she shrugged. I've flown a lot of UA segments in between and after the most recent occurrence - It's only happened the two times so far.
Does anyone else think this is anything but a privacy breach? Thoughts?

I think there are so few GSes left that calling them out by name makes better sense when they are present rather than having a GS boarding group that has nobody in it.

I agree.
It is a bit odd. But there is also no reason the GS couldn't just wait a minute or so before boarding.

Some GS's complain that they are not given enough recognition. So in this case UA goes out and recognizes GS's and it is "creepy"?!?! Can't win for trying!!

Far be it for a lowly 1P to lecture a GS, but if you let yourself experience a "walk of shame" feeling associated with your status then it might be time to turn in your wings. Allegiant awaits.
Creepy? Well, if the GA has a voice like Hannibal Lector, I suppose it might be. Otherwise, there are far "creepier" things/people in this world than that.
