Although SAS may not be much longer for this world (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/sas-eurobonus/14 s02280-trading-sas-shares-has-been-halted.html), whilst they're still flying, I thought I'd share the method I've just figured out for getting them to display my *A status on my BP. If I enter my new MP number (format AB123456), it says "UA Basic". The trick, I've just figured out, is to enter my old number (format 12345678912), which changes my status to "UA Gold". If I then go back and reenter the new number, then my status does stick.

for me it works just to substitute the ua number with any randon number in the same format, then reentering the correct one. This has been going on for along time now.

My workaround as well! I must have done this at least a dozen times in the past few years. BTW, a SAS CS supervisor told me how to do this in 2011...that their system was having difficulty communicating with UA's system...so it is a well known issue...but probably not enough people complaining to have it fixed!!
For norway domestic flights *G should be able to prebook seats, but I haven't gotten this to work after 3/3. Earlier, when using pmUA MP number I had no issues.
This work around has stopped working for me on the last couple of trips. If was not able to change back to the correct MP number. The woman at checking was also not able to do this.
No *Gold recognizion, extra luggage etc.
How can we solve this?
and to top off, I lost these miles. As I had tried to enter my US dividend miles number (into SK online checkin), and I thought I changed back to MP (still no gold). however finally the miles was credited to US.. I did ask at checkin if my United card was in the reservation (nothing on the boarding pass) and he said yes. I guess he confused US and United.
