where to use free lounge passes; LGA or HNL?

I have two free, one time lounge passes I got from the credit card. I will be traveling with my 11 year old granddaughter from NY to HNL. Where would you use them???? NY or HNL?. My connections are not that long so would be using them before departure from NY or before departure from HNL.

HNL has the better club IMHO- though I haven't been there in a year.

If no irrops at departure, then save for HNL.

By NY I assume you are using EWR.

I think both lounges are equal; EWR is larger and usually more crowded and the one in HNL is older with dated furniture and usually not as crowded.
If you are planning on checking out of your HNL hotel at noon and your flight is not until the evening and you have a couple of hours to kill I would use the HNL lounge. HNL airport is devoid of interesting stores and places to eat while EWR has several places to sit down, stores to browse and exciting stuff for an 11 year old girl to see.

UA lounges are fairly basic with some snack choices and some free drinks. I like them because they are usually more comfortable than sitting outside, restrooms are cleaner and the lounge overall is usually (not always) less crowded than outside. Also if you have to change flights or need customer assistance, it is usually easier to obtain it in the lounge.

Agreed, though there is a new shop at the end of the main terminal out towards the UA area selling plane models and such. I spent a lot of time in there browsing last week before coming home.

I think that is in the eye of the beholder. The HNL lounge is very different in its furnishing from most UCs, but it is meant to be a take on "island kine." It also has some wonderful views of the tarmac and landings and takeoffs on the close-in and reef runways.

I would continue to say that the best reason to have UC passes in your pocket is for irrops. If there are no irrops at EWR, then I would use the passes at HNL (particularly since given the very inconsistent security lines, one could end up really early for one's flight). If there are no irrops at HNL, then you can enjoy an hour or so in a nice setting with very nice staff (I know some disagree with that assessment, but I've always found them very pono). If there are irrops, then you've got a place to sort it out that is not in a line that 90 people deep.

I do wish they'd bring back the sushi there though. Although a last glass of POG is always nice.

I agree with this with 1 exception, if there isnt any Irrops and the OP wont be staying in the club for well over an hour, I wouldnt use the Passes at either , since mine are good till 12/31/13 if the OPs exp 12/12 then HNL.Or if 12/13 but the OP doesnt have any plans to be on another UA flight where they can be used then HNL as long as no Irropos @ EWR

I know the passes are only good for one person, but maybe they would let a kid in with you? I'm sure it depends on the agent. I'd try it at EWR and if they say no, walk away and use them in HNL. Nothing to lose. (Make sure she looks cute and smiling)

FWIW - the best place to use those one-time passes is HKG and NRT. EWR and HNL is not really worthy.

But for the sake of the argument here, I will pick the place you will stay the longest.

That seals it, HNL. LGA club is not within the secured part of the airport so once you were done at the club, you'd have to go through security. Bad setup IMO.
