Award ticketing (or non-ticketing..) issues

A few weeks ago I put an award biz class on UA/Qatar on hold as I was waiting on some points to transfer in my account. When the points showed up the next day I purchased the itin, it just showed as pending at first, no big deal I figured it would go through eventually. I hadn't checked the itin in awhile but last night when I go to check the reservation, my QR segments have disappeared, and now there is no availability. So something seriously gone wrong with my itinerary, I don't think UA would be able to rerequest that availability? On hold with MP service center and they are saying they can't use QR at all??

I thought you could no longer book award travel on Qatar:

Effective June 15, 2012, United will terminate its codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways. Reservations booked through United for Qatar Airways-operated flights scheduled to depart on or before September 14, 2012, will be honored as ticketed. Customers booked through United on Qatar Airways-operated flights scheduled to depart on or after September 15, 2012, will be accommodated on their scheduled flights with new flight numbers. Customers will be able to accrue mileage on Qatar Airways codeshare and interline flights until September 14, 2012. Award travel ticketed on or before September 14, 2012, will be honored as ticketed and valid for one year.

You have to call the CS because it involved the QR segment and the CS told me the flight will be cancelled by the time I fly, so the CS rebooked TG to me, I think thats fine as its A380.

There is another thread discussing this very issue that you described above. The summary is that there are many issues with booking QR flights and most of the agents claim that it is not possible to book QR flights anymore (they don't see the availability that shows up online). What you need to do is to book online if you can (even that doesn't always work) and call later to add UA/*A segments once the original reservation is ticketed.

Your quote contradicts your conclusion - it says that award flights booked by 9/14 will be honored as ticketed.

Yeah after on hold for 45 minutes I had to eventually hang up to get on a conference call... the QR availability is no longer available, and only econ awards are available now to RGN, with crappy timings. I should have just ticketed it and paid to buy miles.

regardless of their "Statement" on their website... agents are being told not to book on QR.... I had the same thing happen where my QR leg cancelled. I eventally got UA to open up inventory for me on their flight to Doha. Was a pain!!

I think it's somewhat confusing, but logically, if the codeshare agreement is terminated as of June 15, 2012, why would they accept any new award bookings after that date?

I am having this exact same issue with United award miles using Lufthansa from ORD to FCO. The reservation disappeared once without ticketing and now has been sitting there again for five days. We've called twice and spent more than an hour each time with agents who claim that we should "be patient". This is an award for five people flying on one flight so we are very nervous about availability. Help
