United Miles to Central America

I know I can use united miles to get to central america on their website but can I search elsewhere to use them, or is united.com the only site I can redeem these miles on. I looked at copa and taca yesterday. I should be able too since they are in the star alliance? I am looking to go to either belize, roatan, or costa rica for christmas. I am open to any of them. Thanks.

I just booked flights for next month from Phx>UIO. I simply logged onto the UA web site & punched in the From>To. I was able to find F Class Saver seats...the routing is a little coo coo, but I got the days & times I wanted so I am happy!

The flights are on UA Air & Copa FYI...

I've found http://beta.awardtravelr.com/ to be a pretty useful tool for finding award flights.

I did some award searches for Roatan and Belize City. I think you are correct in that the UA search engine is only showing UA award availability.

You can see Avianca, Lacsa, Taca and Copa award availability on most of the available award search engines: awardtravelr, awardnexus, KVS, EF, etc

Maybe you will have to book it over the phone if you want non-UA flights.

The United website will show Copa inventory. I do not believe it has Taca or Avianca yet.

When researching the OP, I did searches ORD-BZE (where both UA and CM operate) and I saw NO CM availability on several days in May 2013. On the ANA award search site, there is availbility.

More an issue of which connections United will show than anything else. I did 14 May 2013 ORD-BZE and the UA site shows only UA metal options but if you search it ORD-PTY the CM options appear. I am not seeing PTY-BZE on the UA site which is definitely interesting. Then again, maybe not so interesting as the Copa website doesn't include BZE as a destination. Are you sure they serve it??

MIA-SAL has a bunch of CM options but not the AV flights which also exist.

Dude,

I just booked a reward ticket on the UA web site 3 days ago! Metal is US Airways & Copa. They DO show *A availability...

I have seen CM availbility on UA as well. And not saying that UA never shows CM award availability.

I was just pointing out that in some cases I only see UA awards and not CM. Even when both have availability between the same city pairs.

Yes, TA doesn't show on the website. Took me a few tries to get an agent who knew how to do it, but it certainly can be done.
