I had my most recent 1K call routed to SLC, and the CSR I got was professional and knowledgable.
I do the same. Although I seem to be able to tell when I get the HNL without asking.
My last Thursday night call was also routed to SLC. I requested a CR1 (now RPU) to be placed on my SO's PS flight. It was very professionally handled. This was one of my best calls to the Premier desk for many years, and the only call to a PMCO representative.
She said that the premier calls are being routed to Salt Lake City, Houston and Tampa call centers, in addition to the PMUA's HNL, ORD and DTW centers.

It was a refreshing experience.
How late did you call? I just tried to reach someone regarding upgrades and twice got a message that the office was closed. If I have a simple MP question, I thought I could talk to someone 24/7.
Many companies put call centers in SLC because of the high proportion of competent foreign language speakers in the area. LDS missionaries returning from overseas often have amazing language facilities.
