Goodbye United!!! Hello American!!!!!
Tempting for this 1k. 3 questions:

1. Do you get soft landing in Feb. 2013? (I am lifetime Gold but this would give me almost 2 years of double redeemables and other perks even if I don't requal for EXP.)
2. I assume they don't give you any international upgrade instruments now? (Would have to tough it out in Y on some TATL flights coming up)
3. Does this disqualify you from any future challenge/status match on AA?

And you did not deal with a foreign call center. AA answers U.S. callers, even those with no status, in the U.S.

What a concept! It appears that AA and CO both try to treat pax equally at call centers, but AA tries to do it by treating all pax well, and CO finds that it is cheaper to do it by treating all pax badly.

I bet AA still has pillows in first class, too, whereas CO made first class pillows equal to economy by getting rid of both. And of course charging for drinks in first class as well...jeez.

I agree-- love the BOS club, but WHEN will they get their liquor license issue fixed?? Other than that, it's the biggest, cleanest club at BOS.

No pillows

At all on domestic narrow body aircraft. Maybe some wide bodies but not sure. In F you get a blanket

That is an airport authority issue, not an airline-related issue...

Water water ever where but not a drop to drink.

Damn, I forgot that AA was having issues. I was thinking of leaving UA after they told me that Y fairs will be upgraded before 1k's even GS. Maybe SouthWest will do where it's a free for all?

I've been a UA 1k for several years, and as I've mentioned in other posts, UA doesn't care about me anymore, so I don't care about it. I've only been on 1 UA flight in the last six weeks (I fly every week). My trips are now more on AA and SWA. It's a very strange world over here... people are nice, they try to help you, and they treat me (with no status) with more respect than UA did with my 1k status.

Those of you hanging onto UA, my advice is... jump. The water is surprisingly warm!

The star alliance equivalents are much more restrictive.
I just finished a Circle Pacific in F (because C was full ), and it didn't break the piggy bank!! Not too much more than the J fares.....Definitely *A is not as good, for example, in NA, I am not restricted to the west coast of NA...OW lets you fly to say JFK or BOS on their product!

I did a AA plat challenge in march. I'll be EXP in mid May. I used to think that UA was the best there was.
Look at many of my 15,000+ posts.

I was wrong. The HouCrew has no idea how to run an airline which isn't Hubbed in CLE, IAH, or GUM.

More the pity for them.

Geez that sounds like Customer Service - I heard about it, but never experienced it as a loyal UA flyer. This sounds very appealing and I'm pretty certain UA will never learn how to speak the language of Customer Service...in fact I'm not even sure English is their native language these days... We don't seem to be able to communicate!

WAy to go American - finally an airline that understands that the Customer is the one who brings in the money - and figuring out away to make them feel good about it.

They do tend to shine in certain areas, and customer service in phone and in person are historically very good. I was up at the Sacramento Airport two days ago, applying a bump voucher to a ticket, and the agent thanked me a number of times, with a smile, for volunteering to give my seat up, even though that happened months ago at SFO. Just unexpected and made my day. Between parking, walking in, and getting back to my car, all of 12 mins. Sad to say the agents at this airport are destined to be outsourced.

Really nice to hear this. UA agents have been sounding like robots lately...I don 't blame them, SHARES has put a lot of stress

CO used to charge for "premium mixers" in domestic FC.
