Wide Open Business Availability Today From LAX or SFO to SYD

I just booked a couple of tickets in business for December from SYD to LAX and I noticed it was pretty much wide open across multiple dates, sometimes with up to 6 seats available. I have been looking for a while and I have never been able to find business availability from LAX or SFO to SYD or vice versa so I figured I would post in case any other Flyertalkers want to take advantage of this today. I was able to find dates in Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec. I did not check any sooner due to the weather.

Bumping since I just noticed the same thing again today May 5, 2012. Book now if you need to. It could be a fluke. There seems to be quite a few saver business and first class seats available.

Can we assume you were talking about saver award inventory, XC?

Yes, I am talking about Business Saver award seats. I booked through continental.com and I believe the fare bucket was I.
I should also mention that I don't have status with either CO or UA

Thumbs up

Awesome, thanks for the tip! I just changed my flight back from AKL to LAX to go through SYD instead of doing the HND to NRT shuffle. This is in June by the way. Lots of availability in award Business (I) like the OP mentioned.

Thanks!

Thanks! Also great availability to just about everywhere in Asia from the major U.S. hubs. Now, I just wish there were more awards on the domestic connections.

Woot, thanks for the heads up. Was able to snag 2 XCs and 2 NCs for a Thanksgiving getaway.

Still over $1.5K more from SYD to use a SWU.

Given the 100 ppl in the Premier Line at SFO as 1K, I'm being screwed.

And with that I've notice that domestic has been reduced, fine to get from SYD-LAX/SFO try going to JFK, zip anywhere needed the dates around easter.

Was never an issue on Domestic, only the International flights

Take with the left, take with the right.

Try looking at EWR. I am seeing some availability logged into my continental account as Platinum. Can't see same availability while not logged in (ie no status).

.
To use a SWU on Delta the minimum fare is $3900. $1500 is a steal.

Thumbs up United SaverPass to Australia in Business Class Wide Open

I'm looking on Continental.com and it seems that there are a TON of saverpass seats available to/from Australia in Business (and some First) for many dates. No sure if its a glitch, but its definitely never been like this before.

All gone now

I snagged two Biz Saver Awards (135,000 each) SFO-SYD in November in order to see the total solar eclipse in Cairns on 11/14. I actually placed them on hold on Monday in order to make sure that my wife could get time off work. This morning after seeing that ALL of the Biz Saver Awards had disappeared and replaced with 300k standard awards I was half afraid that UA was going to tell me that my 135k seats were now going to cost me 300k. Not the case at all and we're going--woo-hoo!!
