Pretty big news, and I am sure many Channel 9 fans will be pleased to hear this!
That link is from June 26 and was last updated June 27. Did you mean to post a different link? Also, there is no mention that I can find in that article about C9. And I read it twice.

That's the link I meant to post. As noted, read the infobox. Just noticed this myself and surprised it hadn't been previously posted.

My bad. I didn't scroll down the info box.
The last mention of C9 and CO planes I can find is from May in this thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...nel-9-a-2.html and at that stage there was no confirmation about what would happen.
I have to think this Cleveland Plain Dealer article is mistaken. I can't believe news of C9 on CO aircraft in 2012 (or not) wouldn't have hit these boards long before this.
UPDATE: Perhaps I stand corrected? Did a quick search and found this blog posting about the merger http://boardingarea.com/blogs/viewfr...nental-merger/ and it mentions C9. It seems the blogger, who spoke to the PD reporter and she confirmed the 2012 phase-in.

Reason: added boarding area blog link
As far as I know there has been no official statement from the company that it is happening, but I have also heard similar reports from what I believe to be reliable (and different from this story) sources.

I thought UA Insider said that Ch.9 was not coming to CO planes, am I the only one who remembers this? Or am I crazy.

I think you're thinking of a post about a year ago when Jeff was in Australia and said something offhand like "it would be expensive to put Ch 9 on the CO planes."

You'd be waiting forever -- the CO call sign will have long disappeared from the skies before Channel 9 is installed and operative on even one sCO bird.

How can you be so sure?
Remember US still uses "Cactus" as their callsign.
Heck, the way things are going, we'll probably end up with a CO code on the flights, 005 ticket stock, SHARES, the globe, a MileagePlus number that's really your old CO number, and that annoying CEO video that just won't go away. Oh, but the side of the plane says "UNITED," so it's United, right?
I seriously doubt the CO pilots will be running to flip this switch very often. Nice that it will eventually be there, but the stats of no ch9 will likely skyrocket.

Don't forget that the underlying operating certificate is the CO one, too.
