UA Award on SAS - cancellations/changes

I had 2 award seats booked in Business on SAS to Copenhagen, with a departure on Jan 22 and return on Jan 27 (hoping to finally get a lie-flat seat on a plane going somewhere!) This was booked back in September and despite several requests I was never able to see it on my itineraries. Today (I know it was late) I called to get my seats assigned - only to be told that the return flight was cancelled and I had been rebooked on Jan 25th. No email, no contact at all. The 1K desk said a MR R***** (Indian sounding name made the change on Decemebr 19) Whilst I can manage with a quick turn around - it really cuts my visit down to almost nothing and more annoyingly I had purchased an early, non refundable rate at my hotel (those rates in Denmark are so high, I was trying to keep the costs down) so I have now thrown away 2 nights at about $220 per night.
I would like to write a letter to someone and express my dissatisfaction - the 1K desk said it was their computer system.
Does anyone have any "real" names to whom I should write and express my complaint.
PS - still cant see my itinerary listed

Only itineraries with at least one segment on UA will appear in My Itineraries. Otherwise, you have to use guest access.

Ah, thank you - a simple explanation from 1K desk, like you gave, would have explained things.

I doubt (m)any of them know how the web site works.

The "no communication" of changes seems to be standard procedure as of late. If you want to return on your originally planned date of January 27, then you should call UA. If you know of a routing that has a lie-flat seat that you want, then tell the UA agent that that is the ONLY routing you want. Suddenly award space will open (usually with some supervisor intervention), and you will get the flights you want

I had award tickets for my mom Copenhagen (CHP?) - SEA and date of departure she shows up being told the flight is cancelled due to route schedule change and that she had to be rebooked the next day. No notification whatsoever. I was pi**ed off and spent numerous hours on the phone with both SAS and UA but they were just blaming eachother....I gave up in the end. Just like we did in the 80/90s call ahead and confirm the reservation when combining UA/SAS...

I would not accept a two day change.
Consider going via ORD or via FRA or LHR.

If you can go a day later CPH-FRA-SEA is wide open in all classes for awards...

If you go on 27JAN from CPH to FRA you can get another city and just add a hotel via Priceline (Moevenpick 4* was around for 40USD...), then continue on 28JAN nonstop on LH to SEA

SAS is particularly bad at this.

I had a confirmed XF reservation CPH-NCE last year, but because it was the time of the Cannes fim festival and demand was high, they just canceled my booking. No contact, no advice, just cancel.

So I contacted my friendly UA agent, who rebooked it CPH-WAW-NCE. WAW was interesting.
