That's interesting, Is United not aware that KVS is doing it? Or they just haven't gotten around to calling them yet?
We were told by United that no other service or website outside of the United call center and United.com is authorized to have access to their award and upgrade information.

This will just tie up the phone agents more. "Hello 1K Desk? I'm about to book a flight BOS-BKK on line, but want to know which routings might have NC available on the following dates."

Which begs the question - why do they make the data publicly available? I guess they simply don't have the competence to restrict it. I see your point about keeping a good relationship, but if they don't want people to see it, they shouldn't give it out freely! Maybe that's why they make sure it's not accurate...

With the inaccuracy of the provided data already, they already have to deal with this. And I doubt that EF members comprise a statistically significant population of their customers anyway.

Sounds like time for another e-mail /1KVoice campaign
Sent one e-mail to ExpertFlyer's special email address and another to the 1Kvoice. This is crazy and shows UA's utter incompetence. This is an obvious way to offer value at no cost (information available for mashups), and they are taking it away. There are no words...

Same here. Any UA lurkers out there who care to share a lame excuse?
It was gonna take some extra effort to maintain 1K status this year. Now I may not bother.

Is there actually a reason to believe that showing at least the upgrade availability isn't just a bug? It seems way to convoluted of an approach for it to be "by design".

UGH! Why does UA have to behave like a three year old sometimes?!?!? Seems like they do things just to irritate their customers (and often their BEST customers). I just started using EF a couple months ago and LOVED it!
Thanks United.
NB - I will write an email to EF, but seems like writing 1K Voice is a waste of time seeing as how they haven't responded to any of my other emails as of yet.

I just sent an email to 1KVoice and expertflyer in support of reversing this bone-headed decision and repeat the encouragement for everyone else to do the same. I saved the 1K desk many hours of phone time last year by using expertflyer to plan my award travel and upgrades on UA.

Where is the data publicly available? I assumed that EF was licensing it from UA. If you say it's still publicly available, we should be able to access it somehow, right?
Does someone with programming expertise care to write an award seat checker hack, which could then be distributed anonymously?
I had assumed that this is precisely what KVS was already doing. If it scrapes united.com, there's no way UA is going to stop it without a huge amount of IT expertise which we know they don't have.
