I'm entitled. I live and work at ground zero of jaded people -- Washington, D.C.

RCCs are generally much better than gate areas, so they are "luxurious" in that sense. It is a question of whether they are luxurious when you pay hundreds of dollars per year for membership. Then they are possibly OK but certainly not luxurious.

And if they stick with the RCCs, then they will never ever get jaded .

But in perspective it is true: the C18 looks kinda stylish upon first immersion. The penitentiary style bathrooms are not visible and the frugal food offerings are well hidden. The looks is not its real shortcoming.

Although they are not the best of their clubs, I prefer the RCCs to the IAD gate area any day, as the gates can get so congested that one can not even walk easily through the terminal.

Of course compared to the United IAD concourses, any RCC is luxurious. The IAD UA concourses are a dump. And she probably didn't meet any of the pet mice.

Is it better? Are you being sarcastic, or is this much nicer?

I used to think like you, but with the new free wi-fi, it's definitely worth it. Unlike many people, I don't have a black berry/iphone; I use my laptop to access internet. For me, it's huge to have the wi-fi. I normally spend $10 to $15 per hour (more if I have a long layover) to get the wi fi. This year, I have 40 EQM's, so that's about 80 times I use the wi fi, which amounts easily to well over the fee for the RCC.

In my opinion, it's worth it. However, instead of those capuccino machines, i wish they had regular soda machines and regular breweed coffee.

Any lounge is nicer than the standard gate area - even when busy. Compared to other airline lounges, RCC may not be as nice. My first visit to RCC was on my first TATL upgrade and I definitely loved it. I know I gush over SEN and other lounges in comparison, but as 1P usually flying international Y, use of RCC or other lounge is just so nice before heading to the gate and I appreciate it.

By the way, how do the B and C RCC compare? I looked around, but could not find a direct comparison.

(new RCC thread)

Update: there is a "it is much nicer" comment at #25.

Here's a review with pictures of the new RCC, if you're interested.

Yeah, I was just at the B18 RCC. I especially like the desk at the "end" of the RCC by the bar (picture #15 on that review) - while it certainly lacks privacy, I counted 17 separate spaces for computer usage, and it's a very pleasant area.

Great pictures! Thanks for showing us this. I will definitely try to check it out next time. No wonder the RCC in C terminal was so empty; they were all at the one at the B terminal!
