List of UA's grounded 733s, 735s, 747s (2008-2009)
I wanted to start a list of the grounded planes, thanks to a few UA folks that have been PMing me info on the groundings. I'm happy to continually update this list. For those of us that track the planes we've flown on, this sort of information is helpful to determine the % of the fleet that we've ridden on.
Please PM me if you have additions to this list with the tail number and the source of the information.

You feeling generous enough to perhaps make a new Wiki page for this, too? You can base it off of mahasamatman's "Internet Conversions" page, and that way we'll have a full list of tail numbers anyway (grounded and not).

I'd like to, but having not flow on the full fleet, I don't know all of the tail numbers.
If someone can provide this information (airfleets.net has it, but it doesn't seem up to date), I'd be happy to make the Wiki page.
Awesome. But, you may as well start with the airfleets.net info... it's probably a good starting point - I doubt things will have changed that much.
I took a look and airfleets.net shows 62 733s and 28 735s. Both N904UA and N906UA are listed, so it leads me to believe that they have an incomplete list since they are short 2 of each.
of course, this list will be more difficult to create, because grounded means that people will not see the aircraft to report it... unless, as you say, some of the mechanic/crew friends here come across the info somehow!

You're 100% correct. This is a case where we rely upon the UA FAs, Pilots, GAs and lurkers to provide information.
To that end, I encourage those people with such information to PM me if they would prefer to stay a lurker. I have no problem helping to maintain your lurker status. Alternatively, you can email me at [ft handle]@[ft handle].com

2 of the 747s were initially orderd by NW, but NW decided not to take delivery and ended up taken by UA.... N105UA and N106UA. I cannot tell the differences between the UA ordered 744 and these two aircrafts. I was told the inside window shaped differently on these two aircrafts, but I have not checked them.
I made my MM flight on N105UA from HKG-ORD and received op-ug. I hope N105UA stays a while longer. It entered service on June 25, 1993.
N106UA is flying for Blue Sky in Armenia.
There are six 744s delivered before 1991, and I am guessing they may be the ones to go.
N171UA, N173UA, N174UA, N175UA, N177UA and N178UA.
11 of the current 30 744s are ten years or younger... as compare to 18 of the 52 777s are ten years or younger
