Arrow Inaugural Flight for New C/F Cabin [UA952 IAD-FRA on 10/29/07] Implementation Delayed

People are saying that the inaugural flight for the new C/F Cabin has been assigned to UA 914 SFO-IAD departing on 7:50 am on Oct.28.

I'll be on this flight!

(Booked earlier this year as a MR. )

Since it was showing NC9 for months, I didn't bother with a CR1 (thought that 500-milers would go through easily----big mistake ).

All of sudden, 2-3 days ago, NF, NC, XF, XC all zeroed out.

Seatmap is gone, too.

What are my chances for getting an upgrade on UA 914, the alleged inaugural flight for the new C/F seats?

OTOH, I am excited to take this flight. Is my 16B still a good E+ seat?

Probably not much different than it was before. In the grand scheme of things, there are very few FT-type geeks out there who would go out of their way to fly the inaugural flight. Remember, to most people flying is a means of transportation, not a fascination.

Dot Bomb currently says: "Seat maps are unavailable for some codeshare flights operated by a partner airline. Please contact the operating carrier for seat map review and seat assignments".

Even though this is UA 914 - a B767-300 between SFO and IAD.

Interesting 914 goes on to CDG with the same message for the 28th but not the 27th. Similarly, 952 (767) from IAD to FRA has the same message in all classes.

Ah, yes. The "one size fits all" algorithm of error message generation.

While IAD-SFO would be nice, I'd rather be on the IAD-ZRH (or FRA) flights to get the international service and flat seat.

I never thought I'd be looking for 767 routings - ever. It's amazing how this plane will go from worst to first in the international fleet - especially in F!

A temporary aberration...

Temporary? If I'm flying in F I'd take it over the 777 or 744 post-refit. 6 seats > 8+. More personalized service.

Only if there are the same number of FAs, which I suspect won't be true (though no evidence to back up my suspicion).

Thumbs up more info

Since my itineray involving this flight has a minor schedule change, I called 1K line.

A very friendly agent confirmed that UA 914 will be indeed the inaugural flight for the new business class seats.

She laughed that I saw plenty of NC space and didn't bother using a CR1. Now NC=0. Big mistake on my part.

But she said, "You will be OK." but she won't promise anything. Apparently the load seems very light on this flight since it's Sunday morning flight.

For my outbound P.S. flight Oct. 27, JFK-SFO, I cancelled 500-miler upgrade request and applied a CR1. Now I have seat 9A.

There are plenty of NC space on that p.s. flight too but I don't want to take any chances.

Learned my lesson.

I guess this is what CR1s are for.

BTW, she can't see the seatmap either. She asked me to wait for few more weeks then come back to check.

Hey, my wife and I are booked on UA914 SFO-IAD. Same thing happened to us with the seat map-gone. We bought the ticket and already have seats 6E/F. Anyone can confirm this is the plane w/the new seats?

So does this mean the actual upgrading is being done in SFO? If so, that should add some extra excitement to the SF DO tour of the maintenance plant!!!!!

kb1992 just got the confirmation in the post before!

Now a the chance of his CR-1 getting cleared will be much much dimmer than initially anticipated ...

From what I know this is NOT the inaugural flight for the first 767 with the new seats and interior. Neither the route nor the date are correct. Sorry.

But, you should all be in the know yourselves very soon.

Wow, this is my 500th post.
