1000 Mile Bonus for Online Booking - Does it take 4 - 6 six weeks?

I was told that it didn't post online to my account right away because it takes 4 - 6 weeks. My previous experience has been immediate posting or near immediate posting.

What are your experiences?

T

If it doesn't post within about a week of your flights posting, it never will and you'll have to call...

In fact, this is so unreliable, I usually save 3-4 trips and call them all in at once

I've never see it post more than a few days after the last coupon of the ticket is used.

I feel the same. Bonus points for my flights are really hit and miss. After waiting patiently for 4+ weeks, I write an email to them only to hear them repeat the robotic phase:

"The online bonus is based on the completion of roundtrip travel on United
Airlines, United Express or Ted, so our system does not check for eligible
flights until the final segment of the roundtrip has been flown. Please note
that only the first person on the itinerary is eligible for the online
booking bonus. If more than one person wants to earn the bonus, each ticket
must be booked separately.

You should allow 4-8 weeks after the final segment of the trip for the bonus
to credit to your account. The bonus will appear in the "Bonus" column of
your online summary at www.united.com, and it will credit in 500-mile
increments on separate segments of the eligible flight. It will be added in
with any other bonuses earned for that particular flight.

Thank you for choosing United Airlines and Mileage Plus."

Naturally, they refused to just add the points to end my concern.

Its been hit or miss for me. Some have posted in a week, other times it has taken more than a month.

Its always posted for me, but never within a couple of days. It looked like do a sweep of some kind, because the bonus miles would show up all at once for multiple journeys sometimes; so some occurring at 4 weeks, and some at 2 weeks

It can be quick or it can never show up. If it hasn't shown up in a couple weeks most likely it will not unless you call or email MP. The MP agents will tell you to wait about six weeks. Once you get that point and it hasn't shown up, contact MP and they should manually add the 1000 miles.

I think my personal record for the 1000 miles online bonus was having miles posted for an April flight in July!

IME they have always posted for me as soon as I have completed the last flight segment, except where there has been changes to an itinerary during the flight segments, usually irregular ops. I received this response last time I emailed after 8 weeks (I had suffered irregular ops during the flight segments) and queried the whereabouts of my booking bonus:

'Hello Mr. MAXDXB,
Thank you for being a Premier Executive member of our program.
Our records show that you booked your ticket through an international united
web site. Only tickets booked through the United States website
www.united.com is eligible for the online booking bonus. I have made an
exception and posted the bonus to your flight in May/June of 2005.
I appreciate you taking the time to contact me.'

I have always receievd the online booking bonus when booking through unitedairlines.co.uk so go figure.

I thought the standard UA boilerplate was six to eight weeks, not four to six.

There's a batch process involved, so sometimes they post quickly and sometimes more time goes by, depending on where your flight falls in the posting cycle.

Also, sometimes when they don't post, it is genuinely because the T&Cs were not conformed to in some way. Other times, it is a mistake on MP's part.

This topic, by the way, has been beaten to death on many, many, many other threads.... I bet a search on "online booking bonus" or "booking bonus" or something like that would turn up several dozen, at least.

Something has been different recently...It used to take 4-7 days for me for them to post, but when my trip from 6 weeks ago didn't post as of last week, I called MP. She saw it, said "I see here it is flagged with the code, so just give it time...It can take up to 8 weeks..." So, still waiting, when I hit 8, I'm calling again. (And still nothing on 3 recent roundtrip either, as long ago as 2 weeks now).

Read my post above. If you happen to hit right in the posting cycle, it will post quickly. If you don't, it won't. It's random chance. And it's nothing "different." And also, there have always been problems with these bonuses, in some cases, never posting.

As I said, a topic that has been beaten to death. Just wait eight weeks, then phone MP if it still hasn't posted.
