I ran a search of past threads, but am still unsure of the following:
1. Are the "good" 146-100 seats the same ones listed by Seat-Guru on the maps for the 146-200 and 146-300, or is there something different about the -100, which does not have its own map on seat-guru? (Ual.com has a -100 map, and it looks similar to the other 146 configurations).
2. Will my 20-inch roll-aboard fit in the bins (assuming I don't sit in the seats with limited storage due to the wing), or will they make me gate-check it?
I flew on an Air Wis United Express 146 from Springfield MO (SGF)to DEN last year. It had the same size overhead bins as last 146 I flew back when PSA used them on LAX to Sacremento flights 20 years ago. Back then I could not fit an original Compaq Portable in the overhead bin because they are not tall enough. Now, I could fit a rollabord in horizontally ( not wheel end in ) but it would not have fit if it had been bulgingly full.
Postscript: my reasonably stuffed 20-inch roll-aboard easily fit into the overhead bin on the 146-100 and 146-200. Note, however, that the rows under the wings (see seatguru for details) have much smaller bins that barely hold a coat, let alone a roll-aboard. But the bins in the rest of plane are surprisingly large.
Also, I had seat 1-D, which is great if you are tall because there is no bulkhead and you can stretch into the galley (1 E and F do have a bulkhead). However, while this was fine for me because the FA stayed her in her seat the entire flight due to turbulence, it might be awkward sitting in 1-D when the FA is trying to work directly in front of you.

The only seat that guarantees some degree of additional comfort is 1D. There are planes with some great seats in front but it varies based on configuration and they seem to switch planes around a lot and there is no guarantee what configuration you will get.
A normal 20" roller will fit but very tightly. Don't overpack or have big pockets on the bag that sticks out.
Also, this plane seems to land very smoothly every time. Does anyone know why? The actual touchdown is very gentle.
I have never flown a BAE 146. On my upcoming flights the seatmap for this 146-100 on IAD-RDU has missing seats in rows 4 and 14 on the seatmap that comes up for seat selection. They are 1+2 rather than 2+3.
Does that mean that you really have a missing seats there? I.e. rows 5 and 15 are very good.
There is no indication on the regular seatmap that there are any missing seats as on the 737. Also, this version only has 16 rows and row 1 not available.
I flew a BAE-146-300 ORD-SYR a weekend ago and it looked like it had 2+3 in all rows. If you are a Premiere Executive or 1K, you can book Row 1 at time of ticketing. Row 1 has very good room, though 2A is better and 2B is "infinite" (since the closet only extends across 2A).
I just flew a BAe-146-100 from ORD-DSM a couple of days ago. Seats 6-8 have the miniscule overhead bins. Seats 5 and 9 border on these as well.
I did not get on the tarmac to board this plane at ORD nor deplane i.e. we used a regular skybridge. So no lugagge cart on the tarmac you can drop or pick up carryons (e.g. like a CRJ).
Seat pitch was generous compared to regular Y (say on a A320) but not as good as E+.

they will still do this, however. They just cart them down from the jetbridge and back up again, just as they do when a CRJ uses a jetbridge (as they do fairly often).

But in my case there was no row 1. I am 1P. Unfortunately all of row 2 is booked. Check out IAD-RDU if you are curious.

"No Row 1" as they do not show seats 1C, 1D, and 1E?
Or "No Row 1" as those seats are there, but you cannot choose them?
If the former, it's a glitch. They exist. Call UA reservations and see if they are available, or already booked.
If the latter, then 1Ks and/or other 1Ps have already grabbed them. If 2AB are not available, then I take Row 1 and as a 2P and 1P, have always been able to book them online (2AB are not considered Exit Row).
