The bottom line is no one would deny you from using the IFL, but not the showers, unless you are telling us they let you use the showers at 4pm.

In Oct I flew XF NRT-ORD, connecting to LGA, arriving ORD at 2:24 pm, leaving at 6:05 pm. IIRC, I was asked on-board if I would like to use the Arrivals facility, and given a card upon arrival at ORD. Once I cleared customs, and took the tram to T1, I went to the IFL in concourse C and was graciously asked if I wanted to take a shower right away, or use the lounge first. I opted for the shower, and was escorted there immediately. Upon completion, I took a seat in the IFL and ate and drank until my flight was scheduled to depart. It couldn't have been easier, and they couldn't have been nicer.

BTW: I love the fact that the IFL at ORD has a cocktail shaker and real martini glasses. I wish they had that in SFO. Once I was meeting my partner in the ORD IFL for a trip to Paris and he said that as soon as he walked in the door and heard the sound of the cocktail shaker, he knew I was already there

Yep, that's what I meant - showers were available then.

The Tokyo flight is scheduled to arrive at ORD at 14:01. According the the United web site, the Arrivals Lounge at ORD closes at 14:00. I'll be about about an hour or so later than that by the time I make it through immigration, customs, security, and get to the lounge area.

I should be admitted to the international first class lounge due to having arrived on an international flight in first.

From what I am reading here, it sounds like I will be out of luck for a shower in the Arrivals Lounge area or the IFL since the Arrivals Lounge will be closed and the showers in the IFL are off limits after the Arrivals Lounge closes due to a lack of janitorial service.

Do I have all of that right?
In September we flew MUC-ORD in F, arriving later afternoon. We were met at the gate, and given invitations to come to the IFL. When we got there, we were offered showers. I did, my wife didn't. I had earlier taken a shower at the SEN lounge in MUC. The IFL had very nice UAL bathrobes! Very nice shower.

United Arrivals

It's my first post on flyertalk so, sorry if this has been discussed before.

I've tried search on the UA and US pages and I still don't know the answer for this question.

I have a ticket for June GRU-ORD-HNL (XC, XF). Will I be able to use United Arrivals during my connection in ORD? I'll have a 5 hours layover in between those 2 long flights (at least for me). Don't know if that helps in this case but I'm Premier Executive.

Personal experience or insider information is greatly appreciated...

Welcome to FT FREDVIP

Arrivals Lougne (if open -- check hours -5:00am - 2:00pm in ORD) is available to all First Class (Paid or award or UFC), all paid C Class and all GS passangers on same day international flights.

Home > Services & information > In-flight services > Cabin classes > Arrivals Suite

Arrivals Suite

If the International flight is XC, then you would not qualify
(Correction -- appears XC does qualify but NC does not)

That's incorrect as XC gets access. In short, all first int'l (F/P/A/XF/NF) and non-discounted, non-upgraded int'l biz (C/D/XC).

So, is a ticket issued using miles on GRU-ORD consider a full-fare international United Business Costumer? According with United.com, only full-fare Tkt is eligible to use United Arrival facilities.

As already stated, yes, XC is. It's an award ticket, fully paid for.

Not to split hairs, but D is a discounted business class fare. I agree on the access though (D gets arrivals access).

UA just likes to call it discounted, so that's true "officially", even though we all know it's not. The difficulty is what UA "officially" refers to with respect to Z... I dunno. Maybe it's better just to say non-Z, non-upgrade fares.

Was not aware XC counted -- stand corrected.

BTW based on one experience, Z fare is also eligible

Based on several experiences, Z doesn't officially cut it. OTOH, back in the day, one could talk one's way in on NC... YMMV.
