I was aboard a p.s. flight on 12/26/10 going out west and then out of the country until Jan 8 and I realized that I still had nearly all my drink chits for 2010. Fearing that they would expire and not realizing that everyone gets free drinks on p.s., I approached an FA and asked her if I could go to the back of the plane (I was in XF) to see if someone could use expiring drink chits. She told me that everyone got free drinks so that was no good, but then she said: "Few of us ever look at expiration dates, so please keep them for future use." Thus, unless you have a chit that looks obviously different (as from 1991!), your chits are good regardless of the expiration date...

RCC chits are not accepted aboard airplanes and it says so on the chits...but, if you still have any, they are no longer worth the paper they are printed on since use of chits in RCC has been discontinued in favor of free drinks for all!

The point of several earlier posts is that they are frequently
accepted on board no matter what the fine print says.

I should have read more of the thread but it is a moot point now, unless they'll continue to have success with RCC chits that are no longer accepted in the RCC...

This has been my experience in general, although at least once in the past year I had an FA on UA refuse to honor an expired chit vs. about 3 other trips where the FAs took expired chits without objecting (or even checking, so far as I could tell).

1991 drink chits don't expire.

I have drink chits so old, they are also good for headphones!

I've never tried to use a RCC drink chit onboard but I suspect that it's no longer accepted.

Are CO chits accepted on UA and vice-versa?

Maybe I will try using a CO chit on my UA flight tonight

The dilemma is my UA chits expire June 30; CO chits have no expiration date, but CO is going to go away sooner or later!

Ahhh the old days when you had to pay for the club membership in addition to paying for drinks. Now you just have to do it in coach thank god.

Are non expired drink chits still good for food/meals?

Tried a search and can't find anything current.
Are the FA's accepting beverage vouchers for meals in the back of the plane?
Gave a friend who doesn't drink alcahol a couple and was refused by FA.......only for drinks. Guess it depends on the individual FA.
Any comments appreciated.

I haven't heard of anyone successfully using an onboard drink chit for a BOB meal instead. Have you? I'd be surprised, given how loose they are with drink chits generally. The elimination of cash as a payment option onboard suggests an emphasis on auditability (among other things), so taking drink chits would be counterproductive in that respect, at least...

I don't have any of those but I did have ones at least ten years old and on recent flights, all were accepted.
