Worked fine for me..
(Just bought my parents tickets to Vegas and they did not have MP numbers yet.. was just about to have them sign up to get the miles when they fly and saw this.. so now I get a bonus..)

Unfortunately (or fortunately?), all of my friends and family who fly United already have MP accounts. So.... I can refer up to 5 people here if anyone needs it.

Actually, the bonus is back in force. The page from your link is back up, and says it is in effect from 1/10/07 to 12/31/07.

Bonus miles for referring new members to MP?
Could have sworn I got a postcard a while back saying something about getting bonus miles for referring friends to MP. I think it was along the lines of x miles after the friend's first flight or something. Anyone know anything about this? I have a friend joining MP and I'd like to take advantage of that if I can.

Yeah, I tried the search but could only find things about referring to the Chase Visa. Ironically enough, it took less time to get an answer posting than the time I spent searching. Gotta love FT
