G is now a revenue fare for United
I just booked a R/T on united.com and noticed that the outbound was in G and the return was in K. A few years ago I was told by a CSR that G was a travel agent fare. I was concerned that I would not get miles/EQM's or be able to upgrade a G fare. When I asked a CSR about it I was told that CO uses G and starting today United is using it. The new lowest fare bucket.

I wondered about the "G" fare because I saw it today when looking at flights. I thought it mean Government. But it's definitely in the lower fare bracket from what I can tell.
Cheers.

seems like CO/UA will now use most of the old UA booking codes in addition to G.

interesting to note that F will only get 125% RDM for CO as opposed to 150% on UA. i wonder which rule they will stick with!

Government fares are usually either YCA or _CA, depending on the contract for restricted and discounted Y buckets. I've seen HCA and TCA in my experience, but I've also heard of VCA fares.

AFAIK, G has been a revenue far for quite some time, as mentioned above, it used to only be accessable for TA's.
But IIRC some of the original "Twares" would book into G (and as also mentioned above they didn't earn mileage).

Wow...never thought I would see the day that my K fare would trump another fare...lol...I did just notice that the one-way Continental codeshare fare between PDX-MCI is $89+ (listed as a "G" fare on continental.com) whereas the G fare is not available on ual.com so you have to purchase the more "expensive" K fare from UA for the same flights at $128+....I remember the days when I use to hunt for L fare availability...I guess K has become the new L...and maybe G is getting ready to take the place of K

T fares are rare anymore. I used to find those all the time. Seems the only way you can get a T is on the Chase companion certs.
Seems like unless I'm on a rare occasion I find an L fare, S has been the cheapest.
