Availability of ATC Communications on Channel 9 thread [2010 Flights]
As the previous ATC availability threads were rather lengthy, we have closed those and started anew here for you to post your 2010 experiences.
Please follow the posting protocol for this thread:
Please note that this thread is limited to:
1) listing the flights/dates on which ATC communications are or aren't offered;
2) describing any interaction with flight crew staffing the specific flights about channel 9 availability;
3) describing any on-board audio system or technical issues bearing on channel 9 availability.
All posts straying from the last three points are considered off-topic for this thread and will be handled per FlyerTalk Rules. This includes discussion of United labor-management relations issues (even as bearing on channel 9), and related meta-discussions of policy. If you do wish to post about something you hear on the ATC frequencies, please post to the active "Fun Things Heard on Channel 9" thread.

Reason: Update/clarification.

UA 959 ORD DEN 2000 2145 320

UA 348 DEN IAD 0845 1404 320
UA 822 IAD BOS 1651 1830 320 - announced by the captain,
but our console had a short in it, and our audio was kaput. The FA
plugged into someone else's and cranked the volume just to prove
that the captain wasn't feeding us a line; this was somewhat
reassuring but didn't help.
On 12/27 UA882 BKK-NRT the captain came on the PA and announced Ch.9 was gonna be on. Obviously he didn't realize that the entire entertainment system was shut down. 15 minutes later he realized his mistake and came back on to apologize.
12/31 UA125 DEN-LAX (A320) Asked & was told pilot specifically said NO
01/03 UA218 SNA-DEN (A320) Same story, asked & was told pilot specifically said NO The FA on this flight said this has been happening more and more because of the "little event" in Detroit and "they" don't want us to know where we are...
So... 1/2
Overall: 44/54 - 81.5%
319: 8/9
320: 16/21
733: 1/1
744: 2/2
757: 9/12
767: 1/2
772: 7/7
On-Time%: 55/63 on UA - 87.3% (5 RJ Segments, 3 Prop Segments, 1 audio broke) and 1/1 on US
Both flights were over 20 minutes early. Hopefully these are my last 2 flights of the year. I will end the year somewhere around 89K BIS miles and 133K EQMs and a very good on-time percentage.
I'm now:
1/8: LAS-ORD: 757
Bad start to the year.
So... 0/1
Overall: 0/1
757: 0/1
On-Time%: 1/1
New stats for the year. We'll see what happens on the int'l flight to AMS.
