Do bonus miles earned count towards status or do you have to earn 1k by ACTUAL miles?

No, they do not count toward status.

So, let me expand on that comment. The bonus miles for being Premier, Premier Executive and 1K do not count as status miles, however the Class of Service bonus for flying United Economy (Y,B) or above does, as mahasamatman correctly points out.

Bonus EQM count (e.g., class of service bonus); bonus RDM do not.

There are several ways to accumulate extra EQM, which of course have all been discussed to death. So you know what you're going to search for:

- United Chase Plat VISA -- 5000 EQM for new account
- United Chase Plat VISA -- 5000 EQM for $35k annual spend
- United Chase Plat VISA -- up to 5000 EQMs for united.com purchases
- United Chase VISA Choices to EQM conversion
- class of service bonus
- double EQM promos
- random other promos (such as "1000 EQM for each competitors FF statement with activity")

The last two are examples of past promos that may or may not come back, so you shouldn't count on them.

Great list. Few questions:

(1) What has been the limit on how many EQMs could be created by using Visa Choices .... I am new to the platinum visa so I haven't seen this yet.

(2) Is there anywhere a comprehensive list of past (or present) random EQM promos so one can get a better idea of the history with United?

(3) Is it only 5,000 EQM for spending 35k in a year, or is there also a bonus for spending >5k in the first month w/ Chase plat. visa?

The former, and it's by calendar year.

If you spend choices, your miles decrease, and vice versa, correct?

The first statement is true. If you spend miles earned outside of your Chase card, your choice balance will not go down.
