MP visa current best offer?

Is this the best card to get? Is there any way to waive the $140 fee?

Do you get the companion ticket this year or next year?

  1. Define "best". If you need the EQM, it's the only game in town.
  2. No. As a 1K, you can get $60 of it waived (policy change as of September 2006).
  3. You get it on your anniversary, and the zeroeth anniversary doesn't count... However, the companion tickets are generally worthless anyway. With the restrictions, you can find cheaper fares yourself.
Here's a 25K offer for the same card.

As a new MP Plat VISA cardholder in Dec 2006, I was able to get them to waive the $140 fee by trying to cancel the card. So it is possible to get the fee waived.

Yup what I meant is get some EQMs, I think I fit the requirement to get 15k EQMs

When I applied for Alaska visa they deposited the companion ticket with the card so that was supposed to be anniversary as well, that's why I asked..

Can you tell me how to get $60 waived for 1K...? Didn't catch that in the terms and conditions.

First USA is same as Chase? The cards look different

It's not in the T&C (though they claim it's somewhere). If it doesn't happen automatically, just call and ask for the 1K fee waiver.

Chase bought First USA last year (or was it two years ago?).

Chase announced the acquisition of Bank One/First USA in February of 2005, and completed the "material" parts (including elimination of 'redundancies') of the merger in July 2005.
Wanna guess how I know??

Best, Dave

Based on the smilie, I assume you were one of the "acquired". (Though I suppose you could have been on the other side of the deal.)

With Chase cracking down on those holding multiple MP Plat Visas and no longer providing the RDM bonuses, can one still get everything else (the 5K EQM bonus, U/G cert, and nearly worthless $25 voucher)? Still beats a MR to get those last 5K EQMs if you need them at the end of the year.

Cool...what about multiple cards - any restrictions on this? How about canceling one after a year of use - is this okay?
