Geeze that does take the cake for eccentric. I don't think I've ever heard of anything so bizzare on a flight...I'm...speechless...

Any idea what route?

Guessing it is asia - us, full fare F NRT-SFO is $13,604 ONE WAY, while RT F is available on multiple carriers for $9500. So for $17.5K a week, $850K a year, I say give him cookies, milk, pillows blankets, foot massage and as many dinners and bottles of champange as he could consume. What ever it takes for his spending to keep my cheap W fares available....

I'm aware of one guy who always buys two F seats. The second one is for his suitcase.

What was the general FA consensus on the discussion board about "Mr Pillows"? (do they think it's completely ridiculous? worth it to keep a very productive client? something else altogether?)

Not likely an FTer.

Bear96, Thank you for your entertaining post.

I doubt he is an FTer. Most of us are too frugal to pay full F fare, unless it is on someone else’s dime. Then the sky is the limit.

I'll bring pillows and a green shirt for my Sunday flight.

This time I'll leave the toys home.

Ok if this is for real, and mr. pillows has all this money, why is mr. pillows flying commercial in the first place?

Cost/tradeoffs on a private jet?

Suppose Mr. Pillows were to timeshare a private jet, what would the tradeoffs be?

Range, for one. Sticking with the NRT-SFO hypothesis, I dont think private jets can make transpac flights non-stop, can they?

What would the cost be ?

I'm trying to see why a person might spend a lot of money (did the OP say 'millions'?) to go F on a commercial jet and endure the ignominy of TSA inspections (even in a dedicated F line), immigration and customs lines along with the hoi-polloi and the like. Also, a catered gourmet meal on a private jet will surely trounce the best F offering.

My $0.02

Edited to add: Lehava beat me to the fundamental question!

Dan
There actually haven't been a lot of responses. But here is one of the more substantial ones (made by the F/A who made the original post, BTW):

In response to the question: "What was he like during the flight? Please tell me he took a lot of drugs and just slept in his "nest"..."

Basically, that's it.
Not demanding...but extremely vigilant at the beginning, about whether everything was just as he expected it to be.
Didn't even eat.
I know it's a great thing, to be able to cater to some upper echelon customers' special needs, but here's the problem with it:

In truth, this is a time bomb, waiting to happen.
When expectations are set so high, it isn't about 'brand loyalty' anymore.
It's blackmail.
I'll stay with you, until the inevitable day when you screw it all up...and then, I'll throw the hissy fit I've been holding back all this time, and take my business elsewhere.

I think that's how that story will inevitably end.
JMHO, but it's a high-wire act, ill-suited to commercial airlines.
Makes sense.

My favorite response so far, though, is this:

Wow! Is Mr. Pillows single?

The Gulfstream G-V has enough range for just about any departure point in the US to NRT.
