Close-in award booking fee for 1Ps as of 6/15
As we continue the changes under way at United AirlinesŪ and Continental Airlines, we're revising certain Mileage Plus and OnePassŪ award fees to make them consistent across both programs.
For Premier Executive members, most award fees are going down; however, we have reinstated a fee for booking an award ticket less than 21 days prior to departure (a "close-in award booking fee").
Below are the key changes that apply to Premier Executive members effective June 15, 2011

If booked less than 21 days, 1Ps will be charged $25

I just got this and I'm shocked. What an about face. Building a better airline, my rear. I think everyone needs to email Mr. Smisek and let him know how you feel about this. If there is one fee which is more bogus than any other, this is it.

Well, it is fine still.
What I like the change is UA/CO drop every item down.
At least now I only have to pay $25 to change the routing (like non-direct > direct), not $150.

New fee's for UA awards
Via e-mail from milage plus to Premier Exec member:

Below are the key changes that apply to Premier Executive members effective June 15, 2011:
Close-in award booking fee used to be Free USD 25
Change to your routing used to be USD 150, now USD 25-75*
Cancelling your trip and recrediting the miles used to be USD 150,now USD 100
*Depending on when the ticket was issued.
Importantly, please note there is still no charge for changing the date or time of your award ticket as long as your routing does not change.

Say basically the fees for some rare occurrences went down slightly, and they added a fee for every award ticket claimed inside of 21 days. I guess this is what the CEO meant on the video that plays on every flight "there are going to be some changes and I think you'll like them."
