Good. I hope you guys get to move.
A background - I was 1K fand a very loyal United person until UA pulled out of the NYC market, been flying CO ever since. So I am one of the folks who are happy to see the merger happening. I think people should fly what ever carrier suits them. Personally the move people move, the easier it is for me score upgrades on all routes (esp intl). Let's just say, I am not fond of trAAsh
[ for many reasons]
I think you folks may be successful (if you ask hard enough/know someone).
I do know of and have heard of select individuals being comped/matched to EXP (even though it goes against official policy). Requires Arpey's signature/approval. So it is not impossible.
For the record - these folks that were matched were Delta Diamonds and GS matched to CK. This person lives in the LA area (if that helps).

Don't forget than AA is now charging absolutely massive fuel surcharges for travel on BA now.
It's entirely possible that they start charging them on other OW carriers as well...

Dear Advantage,
There is a whole bunch of us over here on Flyertalk, maybe about 30 or 40 of us, and we are kinda mad at United cuz they are painting their planes in some ugly colors and now we don't get this upgrade we used to anymore. Well we still do get it but we not exactly the same way. Anyhoo we have a proposal for you.
We are 1Ks, well most of us anyway, and we want you to make us all Ex Plat. If you do that we really, really, honest really promise to fly you from now on. Well at least until we get mad at you over something later on.
Sincerely yours,
A bunch of really, really, honestly we are, loyal flyers.

P.S. We understand that you don't paint teh whole plane. That makes it that much better. *smooches*

Just going back 2 years to 2008, I see the following with AA mainline:
- Oct. 2010: AA 1640 loses a 1 ft x 2 ft section of fuselage at 31,000 ft
- Sept. 2010: AA 806 has a large enough engine failure and aborted takeoff to close a runway at PHX
- Dec. 2009: AA 331 skids off runway and breaks into three
- Sept. 2008: AA 286 loses four power buses shutting down systems including: elevator trim, spoilers, thrust reversers, and engine fuel cutoff valves
- Oct. 2010: AA 1640 loses a 1 ft x 2 ft section of fuselage at 31,000 ft

- Sept. 2008: AA 286 loses four power buses shutting down systems including: elevator trim, spoilers, thrust reversers, and engine fuel cutoff valves
- 5/16/2010: UA Boeing 757 had cockpit fire. Diverted to IAD.
- 5/7/2010: UA 747 at SYD experiences tailstrike and returns to SYD after takeoff
- 1/10/2010: UA flight 634, an Airbus A319 lands at EWR with right MLG only partially extended. 3 pax injured.
- 7/20/2009: UA flight 949, a B763 has cockpit fire over Atlantic and diverts to KEF.
- 6/10/2009: UA flight 146, a B752 experiences tailpipe fire in the right engine during startup.
- 10/20/2008: UA flight 1449 an A320 experiences tailstrike on landing with substantial damage to underbelly and aft bulkhead
- 2/25/2008: UA flight 267, an A320 veers off runway on landing on runway 19 at Jackson Hole Wyoming.
- 1/25/2008: UA A320 at EWR experiences multiple avionics and electrical failures requiring return to EWR.
You know what they say about glass houses....
FWIW, I would happily fly UA any day. The number of incidents in relation to the number of flight movements is nearly 0....

I was involved with the audit of Continental Airlines and we had to deal with the financial statement disclosure and consequences of a crash. Since the insurance proceeds substantially exceeded the depreciated value of the aircraft, there was a significant gain to recognise in the income statement. Since the item was significant, unusual and nonrecurring, the company reported the impact as an extraordinary item with the creative title of "Involuntary Conversion of Aircraft". Two years later the same thing happened and serious consideration was given to whether the event met the definition of unusual and nonrecurring!

Count me in.
I'm within spitting distance of MM (a few more months of flying), and am a little worried about dilution of benefits for MM, given how long it as taken me to get there.
My chief requirement is that I be able to fly to the West Coast on a day flight, and not just a red-eye. AA has a day flight non-stop to LAX at about the same time as UA does (albeit on a 757 and not a 767). (SFO is a connection through HNL or LAX, but still a day flight).
It has been may years since I've flown AA, and never in a premium cabin. If I could get comped status as part of this group, it would let me compare apples to apples.

I think they all are the same. Take advantage when things are good and beg when things are bad. My wife and I have been 1K for last 6 years and would be willing to try AA if we did receive similar bennies. We usually travel M/H and upgrade (90% intl- 99% upgrade with SWU), sometimes (like tomorrow) Around the World in Business (upgraded to 1st on UA). Usually end up with 125-160K per year.

and wider coach seats at 18", plus the comforts of Row 7, and the incredible legroom in rows 20 and 21, as well as the 1" extra legroom in rows 9-19.

B6 & AA are in a little deal that will let AA members earn miles on B6 flights from/to JFK & BOS...

This is a small bonus for those of use that might fly to towns without AA mainline or RJ service.. Not sure if it is RDM or EQMs..

I'd consider this if AA will do it.
