I finally found an itin where it makes sense to use my paper cert (mailed to me in March 2014). Called an agent who put me on hold for close to 10 minutes while checking with someone else on how to proceed. He said that he can't book the reservation: I MUST convert the paper cert and obtain a PIN first. Then I can either book online or call reservations again. I told him I was concerned that T inventory might "evaporate" while I'm waiting for the PIN; he said he couldn't hold seats for me.
Is he correct (they used to hold seats while the paper cert was in the mail)? Is it advisable to call again and speak to another agent? Thanks.

So, you used FareLock for 72 hours while waiting for your PIN? And then called them so they would adjust the payment and waive the FareLock fee?

Thanks. Out of curiosity, how long did it take for you to get the PIN? The email says within 72 hours...

As of June 2014, the annual Chase MP Visa card Companion Zone Fare cert was changed. The new cert is basically a 2-for-1 Companion cert (requiring a U or high fare), more discussion on the new cert in Consolidated "Chase MP Plus Visa Companion Fare Certificate" - new June 2014
Discussion of the new cert should occur in the new thread and this thread is left open for those that may still have some of the older certs (but they are probably mostly expired by now).

MP Visa Zone Fare Certificate
I still have one of the old zone fare certificates that was issued prior to the June 2015 change. It is set to expire in a few days. I already changed the paper certificate into an electronic certificate last year. I called today to attempt to use certificate and was told that UA cannot tell me what the fare is. When they attempt to put in the zone fare in, the computer will not accept the zone fare. The fare department told the agent I was working with that they have not received the new fares for 2015. Is my certificate subject to the new changes that started in June 2015? Shouldn't my certificate that was issued prior to the change still qualify for the zone fares it was issued with?
