It is 9/11 and time for me to once again read OP's (putt4eagle) rendering of that horrible day.

Thank for bumping this. I remember reading it years ago but had forgotten about it. I still got tears in my eyes reading it and thinking about that day.

Many thanks for bumping this

First time reading this. It gave me goosebumps, tears, and pride in America(ns) as I read.

Thanks so much to the OP, AD, and all the contributors since.

This is such a great story, about the good people of Gander and the folks on DL flight 15 who started a scholarship fund for the high school kids who took care of the stranded passengers.

Am doing a MR today. So far JFK-LAX flight had Ch. 9 on. There was a lot of chatter about doing a moment of silence to coincide with the times (EST) of when the planes hit the towers. Purser on 239 LAX-SFO made a really nice and humbling announcement about how today she and her colleagues, as well as those at American, remember their friends/colleagues in 9/11. On JFK-LAX and LAX-SFO both captains asked cabin to participate in a moment of silence.

Although this thread is usually bumped on 9/11 I thought today is worth remembrance.

Especially seeing as some here found out about Bin Laden's death due to a CH 9 discussion.

See here

Thanks for the bump, Red - and thanks again to OP and AD for sharing both your vivid memories and insight.

Our oldest was born just a few months after 9/11, and telling her and her younger brother the story of that day was very difficult. Difficult but absolutely essential.

Very nice to offer rides rather than ride alone.
