As per TPG. Looks like there will be mild increases in miles redemption for J & F on certain routes.
For UA redemption, these areas are increasing by 2.5k - 20k more miles.
(South South America, Europe, Central Asia, South Asia, North Asia, Japan, Oceania, Australia/New Zealand)
Partner redemptions have similar increases...

Between getting 50% more points on travel with the Sapphire Reserve and a massive amount more with the switch to revenue based RDM, I can't be too upset with a modest increase in the # of miles for saver J redemptions.
When I saw the headline I was expecting much worse.

Dynamic pricing isn't always negative. Sometimes it's nice to have a "semi-saver" award available. Everyone wants a saver award, but if it's not available, there's no other good option (pretty much the story at AA right now). No one wants to pay full price. Dynamic pricing allows for award prices that fall in-between.

It looks like international J saver award redemptions throughout the board went up by ~5k per one-way?
e.g.
NA-Europe: 57.5k ->60
NA-South Asia: 70k ->75k
NA-South Asia Partner: 80k -> 90k
NA-Japan: 65k -> 70k
NA-Japen Partner: 75k -> 80k
NA-Australia: 70k -> 80k
NA-Australia Partner: 80k -> 90k
I guess it could be worse, but United's really not doing themselves any favours this year in terms of attracting people to it&the program.

Everyday awards are like AA's AAnytime awards. dynamic with a cap. Savers went up through the board for a bit too, but won't be dynamic and I wouldn't expect this. this essentially just emulates AA.

As an economy-class flyer, I'm not unhappy about this. The <800mi intra-EU flights for 8k might interest me. The only J award I might have been interested in was the 30k South Asia to Australia, so it's a shame to see that go. But as devals go, I'm not crying over this one.

while I am ok with the no show fee, award prices went up on economy saver awards as well.
Inter Island Hawaii went from 6k to 7K.
Some may argue that the cost to the airlines is going up, but remember the cost to obtain miles has also increased especially when they went to RDM based on spend. This is an increase where the novice flyer already had to to spend $5k just for the chance at getting a domestic saver R/T ticket.
I just felt the pot getting warmer....ribbit ribbit!

Yet another customer-unfriendly devaluation from an industry cartel kingpin.
What's the objective, UA, to be as bad as or worse than AA and DL?

The no-show fee is fine, I think that's reasonable.
I don't like the "everyday pricing" but at least thus far, its not egregious and punitive like AA and DL. I was fearing MP would go to the 1c or less per point, and so far we haven't seen that.

I'm pretty much expecting that this UA devaluation will mean reduced opportunities to redeem partner airline program miles/points for award travel seats on UA planes.
