This appears to be an aircraft respositioning from Andrews AFB and not an official "AVGeek Farewell 747 flight". Y is completely open, upstairs is gone, and only a few J seats remain downstairs. I think this is just good luck for anyone who gets on it, but don't expect anything formal in terms of fleet retirement activities.

WBBM CBS news radio in Chicago did a short piece on United's 747 retirement mentioning the special flight on July 28, 2017. I checked. Seats are still available at a reasonable price, but I decided to pass. I will enjoy my memories of my many 747 flights on United - which began in the late seventies with a flight from ORD to HNL on a 747-200 in C and ended a few years ago with a trip from SYD to LAX in C.

Appreciating the seat map is never an accurate indication of how full the flight is booked - it is great to see how occupied the F and J cabins are compared to to the coach section already.

Apologies, I can only imagine the front cabins are full BECAUSE it was posted here. I was surprised that an aeroplane movement after mechanical would be scheduled > 48 hours in advance - thinking they would want it back to base pronto.

i wonder how she's getting to ORD in the first place - military charter?

Now F0 J0 and a ghost town in the back.. I'm really impressed at the demand for the flight. I'm guessing next time UA does this they won't just let every seat go to O and I class. Glad I'm getting my 747 farewell on ICN than trying to snag one of these domestic swaps.

Flight UA 2704 ORD-SFO on 7/28
I jumped on this "nostalgia" flight, as I'm calling it. The front and upstairs is full but the back is wide open!!
Come one, come all!!
If anyone else will be on it tomorrow evening please post.

I had decided to pass too as seats are not reasonable to me, the one way Y class fare is basically the normal roundtrip Y fare for this route. If i want to spend that much i would rather wait til the last flight.
