That is a potential issue and in a prefect world the proper answer.

The messy part is you could remove the RPU and then re-apply & it would clear.

In a better system, if there are cert / miles waitlisted passengers, R should never open up until those on the waitlist are cleared.

Any GS, any fare or 1K on higher fare than you -- a very real possibility

R does not do anything for CPU.

That should be the process, but as you know it does not work that way

ORD-MUC-BUD today.
Not offered during OLCI, but "Manage Reservations" had an offer for $663. Might be tempted if I got PQD/PQM for it, but the "view fare rules" link on the buy up page errors out.

And probably 5,000 miles when you send the letter to complain about it.

But do I get the PQM/PQS bonus? And is this the lie-flat ERJ-145 configuration?

For less than $200, I would have tried it to see what it did

Got a garden variety at-purchase upsell offer, figure I'll report it for data's sake as we need more "normal" results.

SFO-BUR, K fare.

Fare difference to P at booking: $143
Upsell offer: $99, declined (this is the route fare differential)
Inventory when offered: F8 A7 C8 D7 Z6 P5 PN5 R1 (booked 0/8 on a 319)

Expecting a CPU but will ride it out in row 7 if need be

LAX-IAD (K fare) (UA783) 739 1645 Departure 04/25/17:

$249 upgrade/upsell offer to last seat in United First (assume Barcaloungers) at check in. Seat map shows 2 open out of 20 but selecting the upgrade option says that there is "Currently 1 United First® seats available."

Declined.

Started at #2 on upgrade list as a 1K at T-24. Now at T-23.75, already dropped to #3.

Currently at #2 on upgrade list as a 1K (LAN, J is #1 ) at T-24.

Not a good value or you have high hopes for upgrade?

How much is a F trans con, $1000? $1500?

Agreed not a good value. After updating post a few minutes ago, basically no hopes for an upgrade given that I'm already dropping down the list and they're only offering one upgrade out of the two seats.

Just ran a price check on a one way on my flight. ua.bomb is asking $580 for a Z-fare purchase ($526 base + $54 taxes and fees) vs. $820 for all other non-stop LAX-IAD flights tomorrow. My receipt shows that UACO valued my K-fare LAX-IAD segment at $141 => $385 upfare (but that would get me 1.5x PQMs and no change fee as a 1K).

Let's keep watching but something tells me I'm running out of time to change my mind...

David

Excluding p.s. routes - discount P fares on those routes these days are over $600...

Ok, fine I give up.

Paid $249 for the upgrade into F - my itinerary now shows P as my class of service. Still not a lie flat seat but I'll get dinner (and hopefully my first choice as sitting in 1E).

Note that I'm not showing up on the upgrade list so perhaps I'll get the 1.5 PQS and 1.5x PQMs.

Gonna miss 21D and my complimentary cheeseburger...

Also, some one bought the last seat so first is now full.

Right. Was $649 last I checked but it might have ticked up again.

I would have done it. $249 is a pretty solid deal (although the standard price for that route it seems).
