Gate = PAD???

So why does my boarding pass for an ex-HNL UA 777 flight say "PAD" as the "gate?" This is a first one for me out of HNL

Edit:

Electronic BP now gives a gate number....

I've had the PAD gate designation appear prior to gate assignment on all my HNL UA flights since November.

Also, since this topic is really a UA topic, I'm going to send this thread that way. Thanks,

Saw that a couple of days ago in HNL. My first reaction "they are going to bus us to a remote"?

I think this shows when UA hasn't been assigned a gate for their flight. The State of Hawaii controls the gates and makes the assignments. If they haven't done it yet, UA has nothing to report, therefore PAD is what they advertise as the gate. I had this happen recently as well, but as the time drew closer to the flight, it was updated.

Thanks. Strange change in practice.

Brilliant! If the oil business doesn't work out, there is always the acronym business.
