Looks like 2134 is making an appearance on SFO-IAD redeye tomorrow (Thursday, UA2789), then flying the morning IAD-SFO (UA424).

Is this likely to change you think?

I am not sure that is a good comparison. It is like comparing a 20+ years old car with a almost brand new vehicle. I fly LH and CA 748s periodically. Different materials and fittings on the 748s are not available for the 744s. I am still preferring the s/UA seats over the seats on LH and CA.

I had 2135 swapped T-24 from IAH to SFO on Tuesday. Pilot said the aircraft was a week old. Very nice surprise. So it will likely stick.

LH takes better care of its cabins, too. The UA 744s would all benefit from a really deep clean.

+1
sUA seat is the best for cushion and micro-adjustability. I can never find a truly comfortable lounging position in the LH seat.

UA2789 is not being sold as a revenue flight.

That wouldn't make sense, given UA doesn't fly 772s from EWR-LHR normally (and it would be replacing a 763, which is likely not flying the same route a 772 would be).

763s are running with little slack as well (entire fleet except 744 is) so comment still applies, can allow a 763 to have an extra day in EWR for MX

Question for the group - I'm flying NRT - IAH in late July in business. I normally take the direct flight, however on this particular day there is an option to connect through SFO on the new 77W. My question is what is the likelihood this will be changed back to the 747 or UA 777? The only reason I would take the connecting flight is to have the chance to fly in the new Polaris seat - otherwise I would just take the direct flight and save the 3-4 hours. I personally dislike the UA business class seating arrangements and would not be happy to get one of those planes for the NRT-SFO leg.

I don't think it's likely to switch back.

Agreed. Your odds of a swap are very low on that route, but you'll never know until you step onboard...

If it were me, I'd roll the dice confidently and go for the Polaris seat via SFO.

Last I checked the 77W is a UA aircraft which would make that seating arrangement a UA seating arrangement

Per airlineroute update, SFO-TPE is the next, from August 1st (3rd from TPE).

The current schedule loaded on united.com show SFO-TPE reverting to a 3-class 772 on March 24, 2018.
