...I ended up on a conference call between AA, US, and UA, which led to me getting booked in J on the Qantas flight to SYD... except then the US ticket counter agent in ABQ said "screw it" and bought me a walk-up ticket to LAX on WN, which allowed me to catch the original UA flight. However, I checked my itinerary online and I was confirmed on the QF flight in J.

I've second-guessed myself ever since -- I could have flown in QF J, gotten original routing credit, AND credited the Qantas flight to AS... but I got scared that they wouldn't honor the J booking, chickened out, and went with the WN+UA option.
