It will be better for customers if Mr. Munoz takes the opportunity for a clean slate with customers and employees. United and Continental both have proud legacies, long loyal flyers and a route map with tremendous potential.
Would be nice but this is so shotgun I fear it will be even more muddled. Wish the employees the best.

I wonder if Smisek will complain about the meal service in prison?

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

Best of luck to whomever lands in that role permanently. There's nothing - NOTHING - anyone can do to make people happy from that seat.

Better pay & benefits for employees

Better service & amenities for passengers

That would go a long way for making people happy PDQ.

And then the griping will begin about half vs. whole cashews ...

or seat cover colors

or thickness of the toilet paper

or grumpiness about the bum deal from 6 CEOs ago ...

Sorry, I'm of the "it's all toxic" mindset.

Would love to be wrong ...

Wow.

As a former UA(X) employee...I can't say I'm sad he's gone.

He was largely responsible for ruining two good airlines.

I agree that this sound like criminal charges are about to be made and the Board had to scurry to make changes before the charges were made public. The next few days could be interesting.

I learned about this when one of the FAs on this IAD-SFO flight (on which there was no CEO video) said to the other "breaking news - Jeff's out." He sounds pretty much ecstatic about the development.

Best part: Just before, the person next to me had asked for a white wine--and this FA came back with two and waved off her card, saying "this is compliments of Jeff."

Let's hope Munoz is more tech savvy than Jeff was. Invest in the infrastructure to avoid issues like the June "network" issue and today's dot bomb crash. Friends who work there are frustrated with the situation, too. Here's a glimmer of hope for the future!

On 903 about to depart. Flight attendants just heard, and they and PAX burst into applause and cheers. That says something...
